The MOTD so far only had a link to the server main page which in turn links to the stats. I've now hopefully made the MOTD more clear with regard to the stats tracking issue:

PLEASE NOTE: This server keeps extensive stats of all matches and players, including playing times, which are available for public viewing on
http://delight.vapor.com/ - please disconnect if this is not acceptable for you.

If anyone else wants to have their previous data erased, please drop me a PM or email.

For the "getting a lot of shit" -- I think this was a bit of a misunderstanding, for which I'm sorry. Me and several other people wanted to point out that the Nexuiz server doesn't in fact tracks identities -- it has no technical possibiliy for this, as far as I can tell -- but only nicknames, and that everyone can just login somewhere with the nick "XENO THE BLIND". In the process of this, me and other people changed their IRC nicks to variants of XenoTheBlind, and I also joined a few Nexuiz servers using the name "XENO THE BLIND" to stress this point.

I'm generally not sure about the stats now. I do see Xeno's point, esspecially when considering that he probably stumbled over them by surprise. Anonymizing or expiring them in a way that divVerent suggests is surely an option, although I was of the opinion that the DCC stats -- extensive as they are now -- were generally well received.

gez.. if yer so fraking afraid of you boss, mom, the bugnbladder beast or whatever to find out when you playing nexuiz you most likely should not play, at least not as often. if that still not enought get a anonymouse proxy and a few alterego nics. or just some meds against paranoia..

Well its a bit offtopic but what do those two stat pages do regarding to clan tags? Would [CLAN]esteel and just esteel be different players? I like it how quake4 solved this, there are three fields, one for the name, one for a shortname (seems unnecessary?) and one for the clan tag.

The DCC stats system has no intelligence regarding nicks (except removing hex codes), so "[CLAN]esteel" and "esteel" would be two different players.

Tracking scores is one thing - but tracking when someone was playing is in a completely different league. Just imagine you'd be playing at work (kids, don't do this) and your boss who happens to know your nick would have that data available.

If you play at work this is absolutely your fault. Nobody elses.
If there is only ONE good man at your work he will find out - if you got your nick erased or not ... every single bit that has been transmitted. Trust me, I know that, because I am one of those good men.

If you would work in the same building as I do, I would know if you did something that wasn't work related.

So the easiest way to avoid problems with your boss is to not play while working.
