Nexuiz - the name

Bumping a dead topic, just because I never figured this out myself. This comes up a lot for me when evangelizing the game.
Me: "Hey you should check out this game called {nex-ee-uss}, but it is spelled n.e.x.u.i.z., as if it were pronounced {nex-whiz}. I have no idea why, but that's just how it is... so check it out"
Them: "um okay... who are you?"

Awesome -z-! Makes this (almost) a complete moot point. Still though, I think I'll just write it down for people. Maybe I should print business cards!

It's pronounced "neckswhizz", sometimes "nexoois", often "neques-oiuz" for particular accents. It is NOT pronounced "nex-ee-us", "nex-yoo-is" or any other such blatant nonsense. Anybody who thinks otherwise had better get their act together if they wish to retain their entrails.

If it were possible, I would support changing the name. Being too lazy to correct mistakes leads only to their acceptance and general degradation. Also, until "Nexiuz" is claimed, it's possible for trolls to grab it.
As for pronunciation, I read it as "Nexwiz" the first time too. Pronouncing that word as "Nexuiz" is like something out of Newspeak. Ask Picard.
