[MAP] Succer Socks!

Postby divVerent » Sun Feb 25, 2007 2:22 am

As I am going to bed now, I keep it short: Succer socks!

Download the map from http://hector.rbi.informatik.uni-frankfurt.de/nex/maps/inofficial/succer_socks_r3.pk3 and play DM, TDM, LMS, Runematch or CTF on it. Have fun!

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Well, crates certainly do not belong on the field...

and it was intended to not have any cover at all, and even leaving the field is forbidden...

Maybe I will make a r2 that makes the corners a trigger_push that propels you away from it about to the 11m point... and maybe the sides should be trigger_push instead that throw you back into the field... and the middle point could be a jumppad that throws you fast upwards. But then you'd be more like the ball than like a player...

oh, and the 11m point could also be a trigger push that shoots you into the goal fast :)

But I think doing that would lose the point of the map... currently it works quite well for fast games - and the players seem to like it that way. It was intended to show the differences in speed between Nexuiz players and humans... no human could make it from one goal to the other in five seconds... oh, yes, the scale IS right... I used a scale of 1qu = 1in, which would make player 175cm high... which is a good approximation to what would be right.

Nice map. I played CTF on it earlier today and it was fun. Makes for some really quick captures, so the main idea is to keep adversaries out of your goal because, yes, Nex players are insanely quick. It was also funny to see the goal stuffed with players trying to defend their flag :D.

P.S.: I still suck at soccer .

To be honest, I have no idea how to play on this map. Not sure if there are any good strategies there... but if there are, one has to decide FAST. Keeping enemies from the own goal is hard, but if you spawn at the goalkeeper's point, you immediately own a Mortar which should help.

Today, Kickers Offenbach played some soccer against Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB cup.

For those of you who don't know - these two German soccer clubs are arch enemies, or rather, their fans are (and you can have every right to call them hooligans).

Therefore, I provided a harmless alternative to the game on the RBI CTF server... two 45 minutes CTF games on this map, played in the two halftimes of the actual soccer match.

And these are the results:

First halftime (20:30 - 21:15): Kickers Offenbach (red) vs Eintracht Frankfurt (blue):
http://mensa.ath.cx/~polzer/nexlog/matc ... 72516.html
Result: 3542:2606 team points.

Second halftime (21:30 - 22:15): Eintracht Frankfurt (red) vs Kickers Offenbach (blue):
http://mensa.ath.cx/~polzer/nexlog/matc ... 69689.html
Result: 3210:2886 team points.

So...

Kickers Offenbach - Eintracht Frankfurt: 6428:5816 (2542:2606)

Total number of deaths: 5397

PS: the actual soccer match ended 0:3 (0:1)... and no idea how many people got injured or killed in fights outside the field, but it may be in the news tomorrow. Not many I think, and certainly not THAT many.
