[MAP] ALPHA03 Fortress Resurrection aka cb_ctf4

Here's the third alpha. I case everything goes ok, soon I'll release the first beta of the map.

Not much changed, only the lights. I'll add more eye-candy, I'll try to figure out the new animmap feature of the DP engine.
Oh wait, one thing. The doors still not function as I'd like. The problem is, they're still too slow.
I'd like to start a poll about how to change this. I have two workarounds: Lets the doors open more faster, or let them be triggered earlier, so they'd open before you aproach.

Looks pretty nice so far. I like the underwater tunnels (there was an UT2004 map, January or February I can't quite remember, that had some long underwater tunnels and these proved great fun there, too), the crates (cool textures) and the elevator & stuff.

I'm kinda curious how it will be to actually play on it. I don't know exactly how the flags will be defended, but I'm getting ideas with the base entrance. :wink:

As for the doors, slow ones could slow players down and be used for strategy. Or they could make a lot of noise or something so when you open a door you give away your position. Anyway, if you make them open before you approach, I think the best idea would be to trigger them earlier. It may look a little better than some brutal movement.

I'll look around it a bit more and sumbit any problems or other things I may find :wink:.

ok i think you will hear more the think i dislike

- to many ways in the base
- only one way to the other base
- the underwater part. It´s a very good place to hide like conrollfactor
- the elevator you can only get from the bottom to the top


Where will be the flag room? (The place where the rocketlauncher is is a very good place :P )

cortez, you might not noticed, but the whole map is the RED side :) The blue will be the same as you can see now (there are 3 ways to get in the base :)
The flag room is obviously the largest open one, where there are two red spotlights too.
The underwater part will be pretty fun, trust me and all the good old classic ctf maps ;)

You definitely need lights in the under water tunnel. It was totally black at high (real time light/shadow) settings.
I like the new window above the outer door.

However i thought about the 'quad damage above the flags' plan.. i'm not sure its good. I noticed a similar problem in vitamea. If your team is not that good and someone on the other team knows the teleporter into the secret room thats a too easy way to capture (if he is lucky and armor and health are in the room). On the other hand the quad is similar in facing worlds and it seems to work there. Maybe because its just a laser jump and in both cases your are still near and able to defend the flag.. while you can't in vitamea.

For the doors.. hmm i'd make them open earlier that way they also stay open for longer maybe that helps in following the flag carrier.

Yes, one part of the tunnel is totally dark, becouse I haven't finished the lights there, but it will be the same as other parts.
About the nex damage: for item placememt, there will be betas. ;)
