First of all, I'd like to congratulate for excellent game, and praise your n00b friendly forum (which made it easy to join here).

I am using macBook to play Nexuiz . I know it has less space for keys and stuff, and can make playing a bit difficult that way, but I can't see more obstacles to playing with a laptop. Tough, touchpad seems not to be an option, so what kind of a mouse should I buy? Is apple's mightymouse any good for playing games?

-Thanks in advance!

I love my mouse. It has Mac drivers, side scrolling, and has good sensitivity, and is very cheap on Amazon. It may not be good for people who want alot of buttons (no side buttons), but I have a gaming keypad for that.

I would not recommend using the "mighty mouse" for any kind of gaming. It is waaay too light, you cannot press more than 1 button at the same time, the scroll ball is difficult to select weapons with, and it is not that accurate.

If you are willing to pay a bit more, the Razor Copperhead, and the Logitech G5 (be warned, with logitech and Razor you will probably have to buy shareware drivers, like Controllermate) are excellent mice. :)

Most of the ppl who are using a Mac for gaming choose a Logitech mouse iirc.

Hi

I am playing on a macbook pro and using a logitech g5.

The default driver sucks for playing , because of accaleration.

But uptime is at the moment more important than a new mouse driver, which will be steermouse.

For gaming you should get a mouse with AT LEAST 3 buttons and wheel but i'd not switch such a crude mouse for my razer diamond back. I use all of its five buttons (seven actually but those two 'extra' are for when you use it as lefthanded mouse.

I'd say pick up a cheap 5 button mouse and do some bindings, it REALLY helps.

Code: Select all
alias +customzoom "fov 50; sensitivity 3"
alias -customzoom "fov 110; sensitivity 8"
bind "MOUSE4" "+customzoom"
alias +laser "wait; impulse 1;"
alias -laser "+attack2; wait; wait; wait; wait; wait; -attack2"
bind MOUSE5 +laser

That is pretty much what I have binded to my mouse, I'd give it a try when you get the new mouse.

mice, binds

Postby Conan The Librarian » Tue Mar 13, 2007 9:45 pm

Thanks for to all the answers! :)

I send e-mail to razer and received reply:
There aren't any Osx drivers for copperhead
But there is some for Razer|Prosolution.
It seems to me that it would be easier to order mouse like razer v1.6 than
g5 or copperhead and some thridparty software like steermouse.
It should be equal to diamondback and suitable for game playing, right?

And I will definitely add those binds after I get a brand-new mice.
(I've already read most beginners guide of that topic, and I always welcome tips!)
