Spidflisk Modification - Documentation and Sound Pack

Postby Dresk » Fri Mar 17, 2006 4:00 am

CRITICAL NOTE : THE FILES BELOW REFER TO SPIDFLISK FOR NEXUIZ 2.3 . I OFFICIALLY STOPPED MAINTAINING SPIDFLISK AFTER 2.3 . SEARCH THE FORUMS AND COMMUNITY FOR POTENTIAL FUTURE MAINTAINERS.

I am the admin of the deathmatch server All Out War, and the coder of the Spidflisk modification.

Well, it took me 2 hours but I finally got off my lazy tail and wrote some documentation for my modification, Spidflisk. You may view the documentation at the following location :

http://www.spidflisk.com/Nexuiz/Spidfli ... tation.txt

The most recent compiled progs.dat is available at the following location :

http://www.spidflisk.com/Nexuiz/Spidfli ... testProgs/

The source code for Spidflisk is available at the following location :

http://www.spidflisk.com/Nexuiz/Spidfli ... k-QCSrc.7z

EDIT : Sound Pack link removed for the time being. Investigating legality behind (potentially) copyrighted sounds.

I also HIGHLY recommend giving my Nexuiz sound pack a try. Sources for the pack include various games and original foley work. It is a CONSTANT work in progress (until I state otherwise and version it), but I shoot for highly visceral sounds at a minimum of 44KHZ 16-bit (high quality). Simply download the following file and place it in your \Nexuiz\data folder. To uninstall, delete the file.

Below is a folder containing my autoexec.cfg along with my configs for game options. These tweak various existing Nexuiz CVars to match my desired gameplay for Spidflisk.

Cyan,

I am pretty stubborn about the modifications I like to make, therefore, during my hobby time (gaming / modifcations to gaming) I usually like to keep things simple.

Brutail,

Are you referring to the lines not fitting in a standard width display? It is incorrect to force line breaks to fit the text under an "assumed" width. Instead, people should word wrap the document so that it fits to their window size. For example, how many times have you copied a text to the clipboard then pasted it into a word processor, only to find that, with the word processor's auto-word-wrapping, the line breaks cut off lines after 2-3 words?

This is a question with two correct aswers. Either you dont hard-wrap at all, and leave it to the client, as you say, or you hard wrap at 80 (or leaving room for quote-marks if mail etc) :) In modern times its best not to hard-wrap at all.

However, any decent word-processing tool, know how to rewrap :)

I guess his post was more referring to the fact, that none of links seem to work :(

The domain doesn't resolve here...
I tried 4 different DNS servers, it worked with none of them.

Exactly, it's 404 for me too ;)

I did not want to hurt you, sorry.

And btw The last time I played on your serever I found that you have altered the angles of the weapons. I like it that way :)

But the jumping sounds are not good, it reminded me clapping with castanettas, or whatever.
