Either you take this too serious or are just trying to create bad tensions.. In my opionion EACH server SHOULD at least log what is going on so the server admins can keep an eye on their server to spot troublemakers, look for problems with maps or other stuff. Such log files are usually readable by a handful of people adminstering that server.. Using an irc channel for such a thing is hardly any different and its even something that has nothing to do with the game so its not a "patch" that will make it into the game.. its just a kind of irc bot that forwards stuff from a logfile into an channel..
A admin could setup a irc bot to forward some other output from some other program to an irc channel.. nothing new here.. You could play a round of quake3 and some funny admin could display what you write ingame on some new york bulevard display
