How to compile the latest final?

Postby MReimer » Sat Apr 28, 2007 8:06 am

Hello,

I searched around, but I didn't find an answer. What exactly do I have to do, to compile Nexuiz (latest stable, not trunk)?

So far I downloaded the latest stable darkplaces engine, extracted the file and the source file inside the first ZIP file.

Now I'm in the directory where I have extracted the darkplaces sourcecode and ran "make sdl-nexuiz' which successfully finished.

What do I have to do now? There is no "make install" for darkplaces...

How do I get the latest stable sourcecode of nexuiz and how do I have to compile it?

Depends on WHAT you want to compile. There are two things to compile: 1. the engine and 2. the game code. Both are enhanced and being worked on all the time and how to get both is explained in Nexuiz/Docs/FAQ.html (the source repository for the engine has changed to svn, but thats explained in the link you find in the FAQ)

The engine does not have a 'stable' source tree, its just being developed.. For Nexuiz itself there are two source trees by now but both are VERY similar.. the one mentioned in the FAQ is were all changes go first and if they work by get tinto svn://svn.icculus.org/nexuiz/branches/nexuiz-2.0/ and thats also what will be used for the next version.

There is no need for a 'make install' as the engine itself is rather useless and the engine can be used with LOTS of games so there is no single 'right' spot to install it into. You have to copy nexuiz-sdl and nexuiz-glx into your Nexuiz directory. (and rename it to nexuiz-linux-686-sdl/glx so the startup scripts use them..)
