Do player models look better in single player mode

Postby wanderer » Tue May 15, 2007 5:04 pm

Hi,

When playing nexuiz in single player mode it looks like the models look much better than in multiplayer mode. Is this correct and why is this so?

Single- & multiplayer mode are using exactly the same models... The only difference might be, that you joined a server that has fullbright models on (which disabled lightning on players and makes them always as bright as possible), that makes the models look pale...

Actually, the main reason is that some CTF maps are badly lit, like facing worlds nex, which results in the map textures having the right brightness, but models on it ending up dark. This may be a problem with the map compiler, but it also may be a problem with the textures being used (which may be too bright compared to the player skins).
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

I always ask myself why the player models show up so dark by default. How about brightening just a little? With default settings your enemies are barely visible, aren't they?

The problem is the map compiler, not the player models...

uhm, actually the problem could as well be my eyes which are not a cat's ones, why should I care (as a player) where the problem is?
