So, I'm wanting to play this on Linux.

What I want to know is if it's possible to have some version of Linux on my Windows XP rig that will allow me to play certain OpenGL/Linux native games faster, but still use XP as my main computer? I've never, ever used Linux. At all. And I'd rather not have to do a partition or dual boot. Can anyone help me out?

If you dont want dual boot, there are lots of libraries that will allow you ti run linux binaries on windows, but that wont help you cause no hardware suupoort. You may consider running a virtual machien of some kind to achieve what you want.

But all in all, games are heave software to run so a dual-boot should be prefferable.

Edit: You could also grab a copy of a linux distro with a live cd, like ubuntu, that will allow you to test linux running only from CD before deciding what to do :) note that running from CD is significalntly slower than running from Harddrive, but at least you can see wshat you are getting into :)

There is no virtual machine software available that'd let you play hardware accelerated 3D games. They only offer 2D support.

I suggest dual booting. if it's possible I'd get a computer that you don't really care about and install it on that first, then fool around with it. I've screwed up many times when I was starting linux, so this way you won't mess up your main computer like I did.
