I've got an Athlon XP 2000+ with 1gb of RAM on Ubuntu x86... I'm assuming the trouble is probably in the 64-bit build? 32-bit runs fine (both Cinelerra and Cinelerra-CV).

I assume that too - and compiling would work on 32bit (the ld error message can happen on 64bit only, on 32bit the PIC isn't a requirement).

Also, that 64bit build is quite outdated, but there isn't a newer one.

Specifically, the crashing one is the Ubuntu 64 Edgy one from http://cv.cinelerra.org/getting_cinelerra.php, but I run Ubuntu 64 Feisty. It is dated from Jan 9, 2007. The 32bit builds on that site are much newer, but don't run on Ubuntu 64bit.

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Well done, the video is good, very explicative, thanks for having donated your spare time guys. Often I have to explain the rules to the newbies in KH... not thats a problem of course, but cannot the rules be included somewhere, that one can read just writing "rules" in the console or something like that? Maybe this does exist yet, so in the case, tell me pls :)
Maybe you may decide to add just one thing in the explicative video, not strictly related to KH because it happens even in other game modes like CTF etc, but is important and people tend to ignore it...
When the server suggests that you you should change team, PRESS F5 (and do not care about your score, as many players seem to do and they fall into playing a bad, unequal game). It would be a good point to underscore the fact that frags almost don't count for the score, they are mostly strategic; of course this basic fact is implied in the video... but given that the targets are the "noobiest noobs" who think they would not succeed in grabbing the keys easily, while they can at least kill someone...

An OT tip: the map Minimaq or something like that, I mean the toy story style one (by far the most well designed and funny in the key hunt ones at the moment!) real time lights let the screen appear totally blank, maybe the luminance settings should be modified or something. (I am building a map and learning the gtk thing in my - few - spare time, I still dunno how many things work in the graphic engine, so forgive me to be not that precise.)

I don't know what the realtime light effect is you mean, did it happen on the video too? I recorded the video at a gamma boost, maybe that's why. Also, in the capture scene, there was also a rocket explosion.

No in the video it doesnt happen. I checked the exact term and is "realtime world lights", when one has that turned on, the map cannot be played because it turns on almost completely white, at least I noticed it myself and some people, asking how was that they were having this problem, confirmed I wasnt the only one experiencing the issue.

I think I fixed it now, but I have no idea why it was happening. The map was compiled using "_keeplights" so it could be scaled... but that kept the light entities in the .bsp and .ent file (that's what the option is for anyway). And this made the engine interpret the lights as realtime lights... so the map was lit twice.

Fixed by removing the light entities from the .ent file. Just uploading the fixed pk3, RBI will soon run that one. Everyone affected by that problem please delete his minimanq3-nex.pk3 from dlcache, I won't force the download for everyone as it only affects users of realtime world lights.

Also, will talk to LordHavoc - maybe 2.3 will solve this by not loading light entities from the map as realtime lights, but only from .rtlights files.

To save download time, you can as well install http://hector.rbi.informatik.uni-frankf ... ghtfix.pk3 and your minimanq3-nex.pk3 into your data directory.

Yes, only thing I don't know is why the fix is needed... it may actually be a problem in the engine. But I found no other map majorly affected, so for now it's fixed by this.

KH should show you how many keys you are carrying.

Sometimes in a close fight it can be hard to tell if you picked up 1 or 2 keys.

Impossible without CSQC - note that the key indicator uses an otherwise impossible combination of bits (it gets sent as "carrying red flag | carrying blue flag"). But yes, would be nice... but it isn't really relevant.
