Nexuiz really needs...

...footsteps. Yes you hear them if you jump, but thats not enough. When you are walking and you see other people walking it sounds as if they are floating because of no footsteps. The footstep sounds should not have as big a radius as the other game sounds, and should not be "in your face", but they should be there to add a bit of realism and help track where other players are. When you reach the end of the audible footstep radius, they should fade out instead of just being cut off because that would also be weird. There should be a client option allowing the client to set if they want to hear their own footsteps or not as well.

The "Tech" server maps (the 70MM ones) use footsteps. I think they are annoying, but that's probably because they are set too loud. It sounds like you are walking with high heels on a tile floor.

Yeah they are annoying there. But they would be very benificial in the way I am suggesting them. To see an example of a game that does them right, take a look at UT2004.

Well Nexuiz never was intented to have footsteps and i think the current ones are 'just' using the jump sounds so no wonder its not perfect :)
