Why don't people use the ladders...or if they sign up on them play on them?

there was such a petition before for 3on3 ctf, and so far' there's been THREE games since it was launched....THREE! that's just stupid, same for the 2on2 ladder as well.

Why all the clans, if no one's going to bother playing?

why join the ladder, if you cannot be bothered to arrange to play games?

the list goes on.

At the moment there seems very little reason for those ladders to be there, if people are not going to use them.

I think the lack of visibility (or that most Nexuiz players don't go to the website aside for updates) might contribute.

i guess they've been busy elsewhere. people keep asking for ladders, rankings or tournaments, they want to know how they compare to other players.

i find the ladder to be unnecessarily complicated. havent participated in a while so i may be wrong. but couldnt it be arranged so that the stats of the public servers are automatically collected? and i think the ladder should somehow be integrated into nexuiz.

And yes, I'm sort of "upset" about this thing, too. I guess the problem is still the lack of activity an "real" interest in the game. I think this is because the typo of people who play it. From the online-gaming scene where I came from, almost all people where highly encourated playing in ladders and tourneys, and playing FFA was very little done, because this is were the jerks were hanging around, and the good clan players almost never played there. (I wonder if the FFA situation differs here ^^). Nexuiz people do not really think competitive, because most of them started online gaming (of FPS games) with Nexuiz, so you cannot expect it from them right from the beginning.

Not true.
Imho the main problem here is real life. I always place real life activities before cyber stuff. Most of us here are matured, has a job, has family, learns at a uni, or whatever.
When the ladder started (the CTF), we tried to play some matches. First, "A" couldn't play, the very next day "B"' got internet connection problems (that lasted for a week or two), the I couldn't play becouse of learning, then "D" got some troubles in his life etc. etc. etc.

More than a year ago I already told you what's wrong with the ladder. If you once reach a certain amount of ELOs, you get highly ranked and just dont need to play matches anymore. It's easier to lay back and sit on your points comfortably. So why take the risk of losing them? There must be a way to encourage people to play more matches, even if it has to be by punishing them for lazyness.

Don't come around with claims like other games would use the same ELO system as well, who cares? Nexuiz is not just another game

Once people have many ELO points it's natural that they will not challenge other people anymore, however, they are still challengable, and this is also somthing which doesn't happen.

Morfar or kojak don't have many challenges, and the ones who have to put pressure on them are the ones that have less point than then, e.g. esteel, me, or other rather experienced players who have at least a slight chance of doing so.

What you say is certainly alright, still it doesn't make it alright. I always said that, and I actually resigned with the fact that I seem to stand alone. I don't feel uncomfortable, and still I'm one of those who do play ladder matches from time to time.

Still there's no encouragement for playing matches. Actually for nobody. The good players know each other very well, so the results of the matches can be guessed as well. The newer players challenge the low ranked or other new ones, and soon they can also guess how far they can go.

In opposite to tourney, nothing will happen if you don't play. Thats the reason why nobody plays. For myself, I was waiting for a new version before the next matches. Now I still don't want to play for having doubts in the reliability of servers and the inet connection. One day fine, one day crap. That's how it was and thats how it is today. So I dont play, and nothing will happen to me as long as I login to the ladder page frequently.

If every player would get some points for each match he plays, the situation would be different. Alternatively, implicate some term into the ranking where the amount of played matches is regarded.
