I have noticed that when somebody is shooting at you with a machine gun, you can't really tell by looking at them alone that they are actually shooting you. There is no flashing or apparent movement. And the bullets are very hard, if not impossible to see. This makes it very confusing to figure out who is shooting at you with the machine gun. This should be worked on.

i'm not sure but I can even remember, the bullets you -see- aren't the actual bullets?
I had that impression some time ago, haven't used machine gun often though.

iirc the MG Is hitscan, like the SG and NEX; so any bullets you see would be cosmetic. (hitscan = 0 flying time)

I agree... a direction indicator that shows where the damage comes from could be useful.
(In general, not just for a specific weapon - probably optional, don't care).

Yes its just cosmetics but still the tracers help to SEE who is shooting at you. the old 2.2.3 tracers were easier to see then the ones in 2.3 but given that before 2.2.3 the secondary MG mode did not had tracers at all its an ok-ish thing right now :)

Damage direction markers are not easy to do currently, maybe later in 2.5 but i'd say its LOOOOOOOW priority as they are not really helpful except for FFA maybe.

Umm I think it should be quite high priority to add SOME kind of indicator other than sound that somebody is shooting the machine gun, because not only does it look really bad, but it is hard to determine who is shooting at you. A muzzle flash, or movement, or both, would be great. Or visible tracers, even if they don't actually determine where to shot hits.

It's hard to make tracers more visible, cause when someone is shooting at you, you can only see their front face, so unless the tracers gave a huge diameter they will always be hardly visible...
However ther already is a muzzle flash, but the model is pretty stupid: it doesn't have a front face :?
The flash looks pretty crappy anyway imho, so if anyone comes up with something better, feel free to contribute :D (btw: the rocket launcher has a similar problem: no back face (so it needs to be flipped for 1st person view :())
