fusion server

Postby dublpaws » Sat Jun 09, 2007 5:10 pm

First I would like to thank whoever hosts the fusion server. I most always get a good ping there and it's always up. Good Job.

There are 4 bots which hog the CPU and cause lag sometimes. The bots also occupy slots which prevent people from joining the game. MikeCTF has a fraglimit of 20, while other maps have fraglimits which leave the rounds feeling prematurely truncated.

I wanted to bring this to the owner's attention as politely as possible. I realize that they're providing the server out of the kindness of their heart, and I for one appreciate it!

that's dokujisan. He has it on his dedicated server. That server has been acting up lots. I'll talk to him later.

The pro servers are getting a bigger pipe, and over the summer I should be getting some pentium 4s to cluster together, so look forward to that as well.

Edit: fixed the botcount for you... I dont feel like fixing the other thing right now. I have gotten many complaints on the bots, so you're not the only one

hey dubl!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad people are using it.

I have fixed some of the issues, but the server obviously still needs some tweaking. I actually question the quality of the hosting company's network. It's something that I've questioned since I've had the server, which is a couple years now. I don't know if the problems are due to the server or the network.

My other web server's hard drive crashed last week, so I'm working on moving my website over to the same server that is running Fusion. This is only temporary. Eventually, I will be switching to a new webhost altogether. I've liked what I see in SoftLayer's services. Their starting price is a little more pricey, but they have an awesome network setup and lots of options. They also get great reviews from anyone who uses them. Eventually, I hope to have a really solid Nexuiz server running, or maybe even two (one with a grapple).
