Command line options/arguments?

Postby viciouslime » Fri Jun 22, 2007 10:15 am

Is there a list somewhere of all the available command line options/arguments that it is possible to start nexuiz with?

Particularly, I would like to know how to start it so that it launches a demo straight away and records the frame rate to a file...

Thanks in advance :)

i dont know of any list for the commandline options but theres a list for the console commands and variables:
CMDLIST and CVARLIST. you can log them to a file with LOG_FILE "filename".

do you want to start Nexuiz to automatically record a demo when playing or do you want Nexuiz to start playing an already recorded demo at launch?

I'd like it to start playing an already recorded demo. I'd basically like to forward some commands to the game's console as soon as it starts so that I could get it to do this:

timedemo demos/demo1.dem

That then stores the results in ~/.nexuiz/data/benchmark.log

But i don't know how to send that to the console without manually entering it...

Ah ha! It would appear that running it like so:

nexuiz-linux-686-sdl -benchmark demos/demo1

works. If anyone has a list of all possible options though, that would still be greatly appreciated, trial and error really isn't the way to go here! :p

For commandline switches & engine cvars/commands see: http://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/readme.html

For Nexuiz related cvars see:
http://www.alientrap.org/wiki/pmwiki.ph ... GameTweaks http://www.alientrap.org/wiki/pmwiki.ph ... leCommands

Btw: you can use any console command as commandline parameter with + (e.g. nexuiz-linux-686-sdl +tdem demo1l)

Well -benchmark does end after the demo while tdem or timedemo do not and -benchmark also does not save any config changes (like nexuiz +exec ultimate.cfg -benchmark demos/demo1)

Just remember that the wiki still has the variables/commands list for 2.2.3. I was too lazy to update to 2.3 yet. But iirc not too much changed after all.. Guess i'll do it the next days.
