To show people we do not forget problems i want to add more informations.. (I also mailed/pm'd quite a few of those people to give tips or get more info). Well i guess i'll repeat much of what i wrote in those mails/pms but this way the information gets to more people
Nexuiz 1.5 has a variable vid_refreshrate that is set to 60 by default. Thats the Hz it tries to switch the monitor to. I'm not sure if this is a windows only thing (as windows has a bad bug there, but most modern graphic drivers have an option to overwrite this). Try setting this to a higher number or find the matching option in your graphic drivers as thats the better thing and will also work for other games. This (60hz) will be really bad if you have vsync active (vid_vsync 1) or if you have it forced in your drivers options. There was a rather long discussion in the old forum about vsync on/off and double/tribble buffering. If you have vsync on make sure you also have tribble buffering active as you might get huge fps drops otherwise. But with vsync on and tribble buffering on you might get a slight lag when moving the mouse. If it bothers you you should also disable vsync. With vsync off on the other hand you might get tearing.. e.g. when turning fast the pictures might not look as good as with vsync. But i never had big problems with that and i'm more ok with it then with fps drops or slight lag.. you can try what you like more.
(I'm not sure if the -sdl version does really use the vid_refreshrate. I know the nexuiz.exe does. I use my drivers options as thats more versatile)
Also Nexuiz 1.5 is more memory hungry then before (new textures, more bump, gloss, and other maps and of cource the shirt/pants thing). As long as the engine does not do texture compression (which seems not so easy to do) you can use gl_picmip around 2-5 to lower the texture qualitiy (with 2 upwards it looks really ugly) and lower the memory usage. I'm not sure if this variable is saved in the config.cfg. Use
seta gl_picmip 3 to make it saved or put it into autoexec.cfg. If you change the variable while running Nexuiz you must call vid_restart to make it work.
You can try this windows program, RM 3DSound 2.2
from here to test your sound card. When i did i noticed the left/right seperation was broken which worked again after i then updated my sound drivers Smile. There are a few programs included and also some options in the menus to check.. (In the program 'You can choose hardware/software somewhere, make sure its hardware)
Also its worth mentioning the the gibs in Nexuiz 1.0 - 1.5 have had very very high-poly count and there spawn six for each frag. You can
download this file (made by me) * or
this file (made by KadaverJack) * and place it into your Nexuiz/data folder. However please notice that the usage in ladder matches is NOT allowed. Rename the file from .pk3 to .pk3_ then. This will skip the file and you get the original gibs. As ladder matches are only 1on1 they are also not needed there as problems with gibs normaly occur only with more then 4 people.
* As far as i know both are based on some other file that was posted in the old forum, i have no idea who created that one but as its only 0-sized models there should not be a problem with copyright
The next Nexuiz version will have better gibs..
Yeah there are not too many tips regarding sound problems. I did not get a positive report from those people i wrote to if the rc for Nexuiz 1.5.1 (which now will be skipped for 1.6) does help. Seems most of them are busy with other stuff

. Problem is that those testversions can not be used to play online because of the version check.
