EDIT:to simplify this abit in order to get more new people on to irc.....
1.download a client, i recommend Xchat linux or Xchat win this is a free client with graphical interface.
2. you need to connect to a server. the network is quakenet it is in the server list find it and connect
3. join a channel write /join #nexuiz.ladder
the reason it say ladder is because it's more likly there are people awake there myself included. and from there we can help you set it up properly.
if you can't get it to work feel free to contact me
icq 7383160
msn quisling@takhis.net
google talk vociferous.net@gmail.com
I thought it might be an idea to put up a post and perhaps an admin would make it sticky?
i feel we should try and get more players onto IRC to make the community stronger with more interaction between players. i see much activity in #nexuiz.ladder but #nexuiz is mostly quiet and i think that a broader perspective would benifit both the community and game development/bug fixing. i see really some really active players in game that aren't on IRC or the forums and i'm sure that there are people out there who have seen bugs but not reported it.... you see where i'm going with this...
so IRC stands for Internet Relayed Chat and it is a system much like multiple people chat in MSN or ICQ well correct me if i am wrong but i'm sure that MSN/ICQ based theirs on IRC to some extend.
what you need to know to get there.
First of you need an IRC client. There are lots out there, i won't recommend one but i suggest using a open source one. see this post http://www.alientrap.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=165&highlight=irc
for a disgussion and ideas
Secondly you need to know which network to connect to. most games including nexuiz hang out at quakenet and it should be in your clients serverlist by default
Thirdly you need to which channels to join. #nexuiz for regular stuff and #nexuiz.ladder for 1on1 specific
