Better off without them, except when you need to port your dongle accessory.

While dongle porting is their primary function , they are very helpful with various housekeeping chores. So it is nice to have one around.

However, If yours starts making a whining noise it's time to replace her. I suggest upgrading to a newer model frequently as they quickly become obsoluete .

I stopped having GFs when they started to break legacy compatibility in newer drivers. They don't believe in support. They probably suck on EA's collective.......man piece.

I had a GF 7900 GT but then it broke as some of you may know. Now I have a Radeon X1950 Pro, which is a tad better than the GF one.
