Need handicap option explained

Postby bsnipes » Mon Aug 13, 2007 10:23 pm

What are the handicap options for Nexuiz? I am a bit better than my friends and want to even out the game a bit. Do they make me easier to kill, lessen my damage giving ability, etc? I use the Spidflisk mod if that makes any difference. I've searched for docs on this to no avail.

Thanks,
Brian

iirc the handicap functoins included lately (and used on many "beginners server") will adjust the damage you give according to your ranking in the match.

Thanks. I found a reference to cl_handicap. Is there a server var I can set with 2.3 or do I need to get the svn version to enable handicapping?

I haven't used the cl_handicap before, but Spidflisk I use all the time.

spidflisk_handicap 10-200 is a percentage based system. Every player is defaulted to 100%. So you can either add or subtract. Your damage will be increased/decreased based on the number you pick. So if you choose to set your handicap to 50 you'll have decreased damage to opponents by 50%. THis means you'll have to hit them more times to kill them and vice versa. If you set it to a number above 100 percent, that will only affect your opponents, self damage will stay at 100%. Have Fun.

It's not in 2.3, so you'll need a svn version until the next release to use it. Unlike spidflisk_handicap, cl_handicap multiplies the damage you will receive, not the damage you inflict on your opponents. It's bound between 1 (default) and 100.

For the mod tChr mentioned, see http://www.forums.alientrap.local/viewtopic.php?t=1656
