I like the experimentalism in that track. It's not really what I'd think of for a game like Nex, but I can tell you're comfortable with mixing and could probably deliver on different styles :) I'd enjoy hearing something of yours that would be a bit more fast-paced and energetic :)

You share the source as long as they share the source and it must be 100% GPL! If you share a binary (i.e the .ogg file) you must also provide the original source that created that binary (i.e. the .it, .s3m, .xm, .mod file)
.

Wow. Are SURE about that? This doesn't make sens. If this is true then where are all the original graphics files (I'm guessing Photoshop .psd files) of all the graphics that are in Nexuiz? All I can find are a bunch of targa and jpeg files. Isn't that the same thing? Music is a bunch of layers of sounds put together and flattened to a single file just like graphics created in Photoshop. Or why not even go as far as say that everything in the game should've been created using open-source apps under GPL and include the source code/material of everything to infinity (include the source that created the binary that created the binary that created the binary etc.)? If I record tracks with my guitar do I need to give my guitar away because it is the source of the sound that I recorded?

Maybe I'm wrong, but music and graphics (ie: artwork) should have nothing to do with GPL, other than the fact that they have to be public domain or used with permission or whatever you want to call it, to be included in the distributed package and source.

I really hope that I'm right. :?

BTW eightysix, your myspace is set to private which means nobody can access it unless you/they added you/them as a friend.

No, the content IS under the GPL, but it does not require "sources" of manual steps (as that is simply impossible). So if a file was saved as JPG after the last manual step, the JPG file simply IS the source.

OTOH, a BSP file needs an accompanying MAP file, as the BSP was generated from the MAP without any manual steps.

In other words: for textures/music, this often means that the resulting file (wav, ogg, etc.) _IS_ the source. But it would still be under the GPL, that is especially: if anyone takes it into his own project, he may do so if and only if his own project is GPL too.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.
