Galt's Gulch site - Feature Requests?

Postby John Galt » Thu Oct 25, 2007 1:58 am

Hi folks,

I'm working on putting together a page for Galt's Gulch servers. I have a simple site up right now, but wanted some feedback on what would be beneficial. I don't want to duplicate what's already out there, but feel that the community could benefit from this.

Things I'm looking to implement:

basic server stats - how do they get the info on http://delight.vapor.com/serverlist.php?

map repo mirror, much like the one made available by divVerent. May even be a direct mirror of that, if desirable?

Maplists for each server

Suggestion box

What else would you all like to see? Keep in mind that I'm a novice coder except for bash. My php-fu is weak, but getting better all the time.

To have makes stats, enable sv_logscores_something, then you'll be able to parse your logfiles in an artful way!!!

some suggestions, we played ctf_basementctf awhile ago and people liked it.
irrationally zealously, I've never seen such affirmation for a map before.
well, it is well-textured.
maybe add that to the maplist?

also, qstat makes giving current server status stupidly easy, could be nice to integrate

and recently on the forum someone suggested raising the maxrate, don't know whether that would be bad or not, it could be (bad, that is)

and also it would be lovely to have a 'mute' vote like RBi, I guess that's just an alias?

and linking to opensource.org? Nexuiz is more freee than open source.
A more appropriate URL would be http://sex.com/sex/form.html

and maybe more graphics, I'd like to see a picture of an asshat, preferably an animated gif.

Taht is all

Porn is bound to show up, so I'll skip the link to sex.com ;)

I've added basementctf to the maplist, I always liked that map anyway. Might be a bit crowded, though.

Thanks for the logging suggestions, those are most helpful. I'll be looking into qstat as well. Anything that can help parse the log files will be good :)

Thanks, Dave.

Dave!

It's worth a visit for this golden double-entendre:

"sex.com: all ways on your mind"

Brilliant.

If you're going to start tracking stats, could you follow the de facto convention of ignoring players who precede their names with

Code: Select all
^4^2

as is done on RBI and DCC?
