There has been a recent surge of Nexuiz players becoming interested in clans. With this is a lot of chat during games, bartering clan invites and such, and people switching their allegiances or recruiting for their own.
What are people's thoughts on this? There are a few long standing clans, such as MoN and PB and BOT, which I imagine are truly communities unto themselves. Their userbase seems to be relatively stable as well. Does creating a clan simply for the purpose of appending a tag to the front of one's name, or the prestige of membership, defeat the purpose of a clan?
The point of a clan seems (to me) to be a group of people with whom one can play with, and who have similar skill levels or common interests- in my view, this kind of behaviour depreciates the value of being in such a community.
This doesn't even take into account the irritating antics of people like "Blue Dragon," who's pestering in game is getting old, imho.
Thoughts?
