There already are different physics configs in nexuiz. Open the console, enter "ls phy*", pick one and use "exec foo.cfg" to load it. Or try pro-mode...

There was a reason the laser has such a large kickback with little damage; in Nexuiz, the laser is the weapon used for performing weapon tricks.

However the other 'tricks' didn't make the cut, firstly Darkplaces is based off the Q1 engine, therefore Q3 physics don't apply; and secondly, the developers have demonstrated that they do not intend for Nexuiz to be a Q3 clone, with strafe-jumping becoming useless in 1.5 -> 2.0 [OpenArena already exist, for purpose of being a FOSS Q3 clone/stand-alone Q3 modification catalyst].

Nexuiz is its own game, with large splash, high damage, fast movement, and different physics; if you want to play defrag, which would be incompatible with Darkplaces, play OpenArena.

I guess you didn't read my post.

Anyway, wasn't gonna post this, but here's a cfg that changes movement, thought maybe you could try it. It's not finished, read the comments in it first, to know what's the point.

This is NOT going to make movement feel like quake, just make it more responsive.

Also while on the subject of physics, if you really want different ones to be used, you're free to start a server and change them as you wish and try to get people to play there to see if they like it. But as I said, you shouldn't expect everyone to be interested in those changes, they've been playing with default ones for a while and they're used to it.

tnx for your effer but your config sucks sorry to say . i started nexiuz.exe with -pro option and loaded Q3config that are stored in data20070531.pk3 and im testing it on strafe maps , movements are almost the same as quake 3 now

i would begin with making sv_maxspeed 320 not a noobiesche 400 +

physicsQ3.cfg with sv_maxspeed 320 is good enough to strafe the 0ups_beta2a.pk3
but its hard to see if you slow down or speed up without speedometer

Sorry for the harsh comment, but I'm in a stressed, bad mood.
Listen carefully Urbanshenkie. This game is Nexuiz. Not Quake, not Quake World, not Quake 3 Arena, and not even War§ow. It's a different game, with different physics, weapons, models, atmosphere. Take it or leave it. The devs won't change, because it's not their plan, Their plan is to make a new game, with new feels. Don't tell us and the developers what to do with this game, our game, because we won't change. Some of us are playing this game since years now, from 1.0, and we like this game as it is.
So don't get me wrong, you're very much welcomed to test out how one could change the cfg files to make the game feel like Quake3, but don't say that we should use that as default.
And last but not least, don't use "noobish" in any aspect here. You're the noob here, not us.

Well, that comment is a bit harsh... but I want to add something.

The whole point of Nexuiz is that you can keep speed while moving, and that it is easy (yes, you CAN say noobish) to get high speeds. Think of the jumppads on greatwall for example, or all the tricks you can use with air control on silvercity, or the flow on soylent and darkzone.

Sure, you can set Q3A physics - but the Nexuiz maps won't play well then, but nothing stops you from porting Q3A maps to Nexuiz (actually, in the next release, porting Q3A maps to Nexuiz will be much easier as you will no longer have to write mapcfg files). You also are welcome to host a server with Q3A-like physics or any other changes you like, all I'd ask of you is telling people in advance that you changed the settings... like, use a hostname as

"(Pro, less maxspeed) Urbanshenkie's Q3A fan server"

Also, describe your changes in sv_motd.

then everyone who joins knows in advance that physics have changed.

2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

sorry guys i think you misunderstood me , I dont want to change anything , i just want to practice my strafejumps on nexiuz instead of warsow personel use !! is that so hard to understand , nexiuz is nr 1 engine for me

i understand everything about why it is like it is now , and about motd etc , and i never said that the default is nub i said your config that you gave me the link is noobische

Q3A has a maxspeed of 400, thus physicsQ3.cfg uses that value too. Of course you can use a smaller value if you want. But actually, your suggestion may be a good idea for Nexuiz Pro - nothing says that it should use exact Q3 physics. However, Pro is really not my game style, so I won't change anything there. I'll report your suggestion to LordHavoc, who is most active with Nexuiz Pro.

yes i executed physicsq3.cfg only changed sv_maxspeed to 320 , and i can fishiche the strafepads without problems , circlejump works like a charm , tnxs for everyone that helped me.
