Naah, XChat2 is the best, and easiest.

Wow, I've started a debate. :-)

I mentioned chatzilla because it's incredibly easy for most people to setup and use. Simplicity is a good thing. A lot of people are not comfortable with using things like IRC ....*looks at shaggy*... and making it dead simple is helpful.

I personally use HydraIRC in Windows.

I've tried XChat (windows) and didn't really care for it.
I used to use mIRC back in the day, but now it feels antiquated.

I use Colloquy in Mac OS, and it's by far the best IRC client I've ever used. Simple, fully featured, and it uses very little memory. It's also GPL. :D

If you tell new players (people unfamiliar with IRC) to install Chatzilla, then you can just point them to a URL like this

irc://irc.quakenet.org#nexuiz

That way, you don't have to tell them how to connect to the server or what channel to join. It's the most simplistic instructions that I can think of for IRC.

1. Install chatzilla
2. click that link

That was my reasoning for suggesting chatzilla. It works on any platform as long as they have Firefox installed (which most nexuiz players seem to do). If they want to find more advanced IRC clients, then they can do that afterward.

Does that type of URL work with other IRC clients?

uh, that's the only type of IRC link that i know of. it should work with most clients. i forgot if it works automatically or if you have to configure something. (i've tested mIRC successfully with Opera, Firefox and Internet Explorer)

Hey that's pretty awesome. I tested that and it worked well.

Is that a proxy or just a web client?
