This is for all the people who moan about public ctf being rubbish (me being one of them), but for a lot of the other players on here saying half there team-mates dont know what there doing.

there is now a nexuiz pickup channel.

#nexuiz.pickup as stated on the other thread.

only reason im writing this thread is..you now have access to a lot higher quality games with skilled players. PLEASE use this pickup to play decent games..if your not using it and still moaning about ctf being played with a bunch of clueless team-mates you only have your-self to blame, and are restricting the competitiveness and decent gameplay of nexuiz.

there is TDM 2on2 also.

I guess if the pickup is successful enough and people USE it, then perhaps it will become into a 5v5 ctf pickup with decent maps on the server that fit this gameplay.

you have the ability for good games now, don't let it go to waste.

Yey, I played the first pickup match ever with Bundy, Diomedes and Pink Robot, and it was pretty balanced!

64-50, Bundy and I are the winnerz, we all had fun, it was nothing but frustrating (at least it didn't look like that)

I can only agree with that. Theres nothing else i could add to kojn post. The only thing I like to mention is, that I have some more ideas, which I will organize/implement, if the community use the pickup games frequently. It is up to you, what will happen with this great service!

Well I don't think I have ever moaned about the quality of play on CTF or TDM servers (*) but I am STILL going to use this pickup channel a lot regardless. This is a great new feature and I thank those who have implemented it.

Oh and good game Bundy, Diomedes and MrBougo !

There is not much to contribute that has not already been said so I'll just be another voice endorsing #nexuiz.pickup. I've had a great time already and I only see improvements in the future. I do think we're lacking proper information to get IRC novices where they need to be so...

1A) Want to check out the chatroom without installing anything yet? Use Mibbit and simply enter a username and no password.

1B) Download an IRC Client like one of the following suggestions:
X-Chat (Win32, Linux, OSX)
Konversation (Linux)
mIRC (Win32)
IRCle (OSX)
ChatZilla (Firefox Plugin, multi-OS)

2) Connect to the irc.quaketnet.org network. In X-Chat, it is on the server list under Quakenet. You'll have to choose a nickname, something with no spaces or strange characters in it.

3) Join the #nexuiz.pickup channel. You may also want to join #nexuiz and #nexuiz.ninjaz

4) Type !help in #nexuiz.pickup
You should see a response like this:
<ninjato> Use: !add tdm.eu, !add tdm.us, !add ctf.eu, or !add ctf.us to join the next game | Use !remove to remove yourself from the list | [/b]!ninjato[/b] for server status help

5) As the instructions above indicate, if you'd like to play a 2v2 game on a north american server type !add tdm.us. For a 3v3ctf on a European server, type !add ctf.eu. The bot will automatically update game information located in the topic. When enough players have added themselves to a game, the bot will notify everyone via private message including the server ip:port.


I hope this helps someone who might have been discouraged from joining, and if anyone would like to refine this guide, feel free.
