second instance does not show in server browser

Postby Dopehead.NL » Sun Apr 16, 2006 11:02 am

I have 2 nexuiz servers running on one pc.
The first server uses port 26000, the second uses 26100
When I start a server browser on my game PC only the first server shows up.
How do I get the second server to show ?
I want to bring this machine to a LAN party and everyone there should be able to see the 2 servers running.

If its only a lan just tell the guys your ip to join. Then they connect thru the console. You made 1 cfg for each server on your machine, said set port 6100 or whatever. Should work then. You should have a different ip for both servers tho. Maybe if its one there a conflict or something.

Otherwise i dont know.

If i get this right
netconn.c wrote:// 26000 is the default quake server port, servers on other ports will not
// be found
// note this is IPv4-only, I doubt there are IPv6-only LANs out there
LHNETADDRESS_FromString(&broadcastaddress, "255.255.255.255", 26000);
there is only one way to get server on a port other than 26000 in your serverlist: you need to setup a masterserver in your LAN. (you can get the latest version of dpmaster here)

Thanks guys, for the info.
The LAN party I am going to is with 1000 people, not realy an option to 'tell everybody' :)
As for the master server solution, that would mean everybody would have to enter the master servers address, right ?
So again not really an option.
I could try and get 2 IP adresses from the LAN organisation and bind them to ETH0 and ETH0:1, but my question then is :
Can I bind a nexuiz server to a specific IP adress on my network card ?

Hmm, is it the : set net_adress "x.x.x.x" thingy ??

Yes. Another solution would be (if there is a DNS server on your LAN) to redirect ghdigital.com to the ip of your master server. That would be the most fool proof solution imho, since i'm not sure whether a server on 10.0.0.1 e.g. shows up on a client with a 10.0.1.1 IP... (iirc that was a problem in my university's network, when the internet connection broke down...)

Yes, that should work...

We did this some time ago_ iuts real simple:

Block all master server queries in your firewall (udp port 27500 iirc) then make fake dns entries for the master servers on in your DNS setup, telling that the master server's addresses is a local master server. Nothing more needs to be done. :) This is basically what kadaver said, but noentheless :)

If you dont want to block out the mater servers, but let people play online in addition to local server, only hijack one of the master server DNSes, not all, and dont block the master server query port in the fw.

sooooo.. tell me what you want, waht you really-really want
I will proceed directly to the intravenous injection of hard drugs, please.
