You have to move the hotfix files into the game directory.

And no, it does not replace ALL files. It replaces all engine files, but the pk3s get a patch.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

which particular files do i have to replace to apply this hotfix?? i am using mac os x 3.9 etcetc
A REMINDER for mac users.. Extract the hotfix somewere and the move the single FILES into your old nexuiz installation. If you move the whole directory it will DELETE the old files that you still need to play!! Mac GUI seems to SUCKS when it comes to that!!

You MUST NOT replace the folders, cause MacOS handles folders as single files. It won't add anything to the inside of the folder, it will just replace it completely and delete the old one. So re-download Nex2.4, take the files out of the hotfix-folder data, pro etc. and put them in the corresponding folders inside your Nex-Directory. I made the same mistake for the first time.

EDIT: div was faster :P

Well maybe he still has the nexuiz-24.zip around so you does not need to redownload it, just extract it again :)

BTW a new version of the hotfix is online, i'm updating the first post now. It seems like it contains the final 'lagness/movement' updates and some more sound changes so please test it.

Wlan is bad for playing.. it really tends to create packetloss and random ping now and then. Even if my laptop just 2m away from the accesspoint i'm having issues so i prefer real lan with cables

You seem to be right. Pinging to the WLAN Laptop also resulted in some high Ping in avg. 3 minutes distances... so we put in a normal cable and now we play perfectly fine. No lags anymore and perfect Ping.
Currently we also have not seen any new bugs anymore. I hope we can specificly test out some of the things to test in th first thread while this week.

EDIT:
- pk3 files build on mac now loads correctly (see the problems map arboria caused)

Definetly works here on my Linux box.

Next we test Keyhunt with bots.

EDIT2:
- bots crashing in keyhunt which made campaign 15 and keyhunt with bots in general unusable

Tested some matches (keyhunt/bots) - HOTFIX from 20080310 - works on our Windows and Linux boxes.

Um... Sorry to say that, but imo the new hotfix actually ADDED some lag.
In both singleplayer and multiplayer. :?
At least I didn't notice my sound bug.

Damn now i got confused myself with the versions.. I think after re-reading your post you really have the new hotfix. Hmm maybe i should change to link to point to the dates instead of latest to clearify this.. But then i need to update the link for each new hotfix version. Well updated the first post once more.

Anyway.. the old one might add some lag if your connection is slow. But have no idea why it would add lag when playing locally. If there indeed was more confusion at the hotfix version then please try the new version. And please try to move config.cfg to a save place so Nexuiz can start with a 'clean' config and see if that helps..

Also please tell us the name of the data/datapatch*.pk3 file so we can make sure we talk about the same version of the hotfix :)

I can confirm that I can feel more lag in single player. I also played some multiplayer yesterday and I can say that it did not get worse at least ;)

I'm not familiar with mac but i suppose thats ok.. The stuff in the "data" folder is the patch for the game content. You can verify the engine got updated by opening the ingame console (shift-escape) it displays the build-date in the lower right area. 2.4 was build 29.02.2008.. the latest hotfix 10.03.2008

Have you tried with a clean config? Oh and please try to refrain from changing net related variables via autoexec.cfg or so if possible. For me the 20080310 hotfix is very smooth, even more so when using vsync so the tearing can not 'look like lag'. DivVerent said that now he can even notice how bad his mouse is.. m_filter 1 helped there :)

The bug that resulted in "invalid weapon" messages on console has resurfaced in 2.4 (no hotfix), so I was wondering if the hotfix addresses this issue too. If it doesn't you might want to add it to the list of bugs known for 2.4 if someone else hasn't beat me to it.
