RussianRobot Voicepack

Postby HarryButt » Thu Mar 20, 2008 8:30 pm

Well, I finished work on my voicepack for today.
My idea behind this one was like: Why do all robots speak english? I mean, if robots will ever learn to speak, they'll speak as many languages as humanity itself.
I could have recorded this stuff completely in russian, but I suppose that nobody would understand a word (NOOBS :P), so you get an english version with a cheesy russian accent.
Grab it HERE.

I noticed that it doesn't actually sound like a robot :D and the accent is kinda over the top (like Borat on steroids), but I thought, I'll release it to get some feedback.
And yeah, the samples are mostly cheap ripoffs of UT's sounds. Gimme some fresh ideas and I'm gonna record them.

announcer sounds in native languages is something i had on mind a while ago. i don't know what others think, but i think that would be a cool add-on. making Nexuiz multilingual isn't necessary, but it would definitely be a nice feature.

You mean that Austrian?

(I mean ARNIE!)
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

If you insist, I could also record stuff in Spanish, French, German, Russian and Mandarin Chinese :P I never had much problems in language pronounciation, but my vocabulary just sucks (yeah, I've always been too lazy to practice). So I'm gonna need a script.
For chinese, it has to be written in pinyin, for I can't read glyphs :D

I think, you'll get more success asking Dolph Lundgren or Steven Seagal.
Chuck Norris is rather busy kicking asses.

I'll get back to your offer, 4m.
