Differences in Player Model Detail

Are some of the player models in Nexuiz more detailed than others? I ask because sometimes it seems like I get more slowdown around some player models than others.

I had a related idea to this. How's about the option to force low detail models? Basically this would replace all the high detail player models with a different player model, that is of lower detail. That way, if you prefer a higher frame rate, you can get one easier. This would also be of use for a dead bodies stay option.

This would need someone to make the low poly versions.

The playermodels are long overdue a major overhaul anyway, but again, good modelers appear to be in short supply in the foss world.

I'm not suggesting re-do every model, just have a few low-poly ones, and then have it switch all the high-res ones to those if you choose the low poly option.

Again currently most stuff is still controlled by the server so doing that stuff of 'model exchange' is like a ugly workaround..

So I guess there'll need to be that client-side code thing put in first? Do you know when that'll happen?

By the way are there any models that are already low-poly out there?

lol. Actually something like the player models from Quake 1 or 2 wouldn't be bad. I think they look ok. You could have masses of corpses around with something like that. And if you wanted a kick-ass frame rate, having the option to switch all models to those would give you it on any system.
