I totally 100% agree with this. Hook is awesome.

Hook is not a weapon. Yet.

Laser
Epic fights on Evilspace, and it's the Nexuiz equivalent to a car in RealLife.

Shotgun
oh.... okay, wait. I forgot it. Yes, i forgot the Shotgun. I tend to do that alot. I can imagine Nexuiz without it. :P

Uzi/Machine Gun
A proper FPS needs some sort of Rapid Fire Weapon. But our Uzi fails miserably. I mean, you can't be serious! Let's see.... we have the Nex, Electro, Rocket launcher.... Uzi. Even the Laser is more powerful!

Mortar
i just love the clicker-clackering sound of grenade spamming :P

Electro
Epic plasma goodness

Crylink
One of my favorite weapons, before they started tweaking it. I think it's the most-controversial weapon in Nexuiz and that's what gives this gun its character. If weapons had a gender, then this one would be a transvestite. :P

Nex
Hard-lined and straight-forward. A strong contrast to the other weapons.

Hagar
I think this one has benefitted the most from version changes. It didn't really change much, it just matured and developed a distinctive character.

Rocket Launcher
It's like a big fluffy teddybear, whose farts are deadly. Gotta love it.

I voted Electro, because it has one of the strongest characters along with the RL, but you see rockets all the time in movies and games, so the Electro has a more unique feeling to it. Talking about unique, Crylink would be my second choice.

Wow, i need to stop posting so early in the morning.

hmm, perhaps if it is aimed at the right orifice. Hook may not be a weapon, but are any of the weapons all that unique? Every game has a RL, MG, Sniper, and shotgun. I'm pretty sure there was a grenade launcher in quake like the mortar, and the electo and crylink remind me oddly enough of the flak cannon from UT. I guess that leaves the hagar and the laser. Don't get me started on the hagar. That only leaves the laser, so I guess that's my vote, if you're going to restrict this to weapons.

Perhaps this poll should be based on individual firemodes, rather than a weapon as a whole.

Laser = Blaster, except with force.
Shotgun = Semi-automatic shotgun with burst fire, quite unique.
Machine Gun = Gatling gun from UT.
Mortar = Impact and time-delay triggered grenade, similar to grenade launchers from UT and Quake.
Electro = Quake RL with a semi-unique ricocheting secondary, detonated by a projectile, radius primary.
Crylink = Flak Cannon from UT, and unique secondary.
Nex = Railgun from Quake.
Hagar = BFG/Plasma Gun replacement from Quake, UT Ripper secondary.
Rocket Launcher = Powerful, slow, large radius rocket with detonation switch, focusing on dealing damage in method similar to a proximity ABM, unique.

That was beautiful  . Quite touching.

The laser is a fantastic tool, and in my opinion, the only weapon worth using anyways. I suppose it's similar to the blaster, but the movement abilities it gives one are totally sweet and add tons to gameplay.

Also, it seems that speed and movement is heavily emphasized in Nexuiz, and the laser is a fantastic way to get there.

The shotgun isn't terribly interesting. Shotguns with burst fire are somewhat uncommon, but not unheard of.

Machineguns aren't anything new in videogames. The one in Turok Rage Wars has the same firemodes, even.

The mortar, while rather enjoyable, is just another grenade launcher.

I don't think the Crylink is a good choice to represent Nexuiz. It's worthless, the bouncing projectiles do no damge, now the're gone, now it's too strong, now it's worthless, now it's worthless, now it's worthless, now it's perfectly balanced, now it's worthless, now it's worthless, now it's too strong, now it's worthless, now it's worthless, now it's worthless, and now the bouncing projectiles are back, have some splash damage at bounce, and it's too strong.

I don't know what to think about the Electro. The fancy effects represent Nexuiz well enough.

The Hagar is interesting. It's kind of like the Devastator from the Duke Nukem series. I don't think it represents quite represents Nexuiz, though.

The Rocket Launcher is super cool. Detonating rockets is totally awesome, but so many other games have rocket launchers. If it weren't for that, this would stand a very good chance.

The Nex? Yet another railgun that's pressed into service as a sniper rifle. It doesn't even have a real secondary firemode.

It certainly wasn't my intention to imply that the weapons in Nexuiz were completely standardized and boring. It's just that none of them to me give that feeling of, "holy crap, i've never seen anything like this before." Of course considering that the FPS genre has existed for so long now, it would probably take something totally off the wall and crazy to the point of absurdity to feel truly unique. Like, I don't know, a gun that shoots ninjas that run around giving flowers to all the other players. But what would be the point in that?

I said midgets, not ninjas (someone would have to make a ninja model) and the flowers would just be an option that could be changed to electric eels that would electrocute you.... or crocodiles....
But what's the point of playing FPS, anyway?

Edit:
Wasn't someone modeling a "robo-chicken"? What happened to that?
