Weird graphics

Ok...so i just downloaded the game and installed it on my machine in my ubuntu partiition (i am dual booting it with vista) when i started the game everything went pink and green and purple...even my desktop and i couldnt see or do anything in the game...why is this?

Firstly, you'd better post in the 'Support/Bugs' category for support about such things.
Secondly, sounds like an overheating graphics card.
Thirdly, giving the specs on your computer and drivers (OS too though you've mentioned it) would help out a lot.

It could be caused by a broken video card drivers...

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 and its a new computer so i doubt its because its out of date/broken

It being a new computer does not mean it couldn't have a broken video driver. By "broken", I mean it could be installed incorrectly, or it could be buggy.

Here are some instructions for installing the ATI driver for that card in Ubuntu.

problem solved...i had to get a linux driver and install it
