Also, steam isn't cross platform... in order to use it under linux you'd have to run nexuiz in wine. Uck.

I hope there will be a voice chat module added in Nexuiz itsself (like the one in UT2004) so external applications won't be needed to voice chat in the game. Also, my best recommendation for voice chat until then would be teamspeak, which is used in many services and from what I seen it works really well.

Only clan has a TS2 server running - you can get the address from the motd on our nex server, feel free to join. We pay for the server so it performs very well. I just wish they'd release TS3 already so the sound quality can improve (hopefully as good as Ventrilo). Also, Teamspeak Overlay works perfectly in nex if you want to see who's talking at any given time.

I just learned of this cross-platform GPL'd voice chat software.

http://www.voicechatter.org/

Anyone ever use this before?

Voice Chatter is a free, cross-platform voice communication (chat) application. It was designed with gaming in mind, but can be used for many other purposes.

Why write Voice Chatter? Because there is no voice communication application that I am aware of that has excellent voice quality, AND supports all major platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac). I am a Linux hobbiest, and I would like to play games on it. However, the the two most popular applications either don't support Linux or have inferior voice quality.

Seems easy enough to install a server too.
