Someone in IRC mentioned that this is like a mumble clone, so then they asked why not just use mumble?

I'm not sure if it is functionally the same (or the same in terms of quality), but it could be easier to integrate into Nexuiz than Mumble. From what I understood from Div, the mumble code was a bit complicated to integrate because of how they chose to design the software.

Also, I know of one person (mkzelda) that experienced serious lag during gameplay when someone would speak using mumble. Perhaps this program uses more efficient methods/codecs.

Mumble NOW also has mac binaries on their homepage. There was mac support for a long time, just no precompiled binaries. But I'll have to check if the mumble server on planetnexuiz.de needs an update :)

There is a Mumble server?
Damn, i gotta check th forum more often.
Any chance John Galt could run a mumble server? i know it's asking ALOT from him and we all thank you for running the servers you put up, if ya do run one i would be happy to pitch in a few bucks to help out, and I believe others would as well.
The only problem I see is Galts is very international, could be a language problem.

on a side note, I hate RedstarRepublic

Server setup is also much easier than mumble's murmur. I can easily integrate this into Nexuiz Server Toolz.

Not so much with murmur...

Yes, I setup a mumble server a couple nights ago. Well, mkzelda had started setting up the server a few months ago, but it didn't get finished. So I finished up the config and started adding users.

I currently have 83 users added and I have about another 30-40 more to go on my list. I'm still working out the permission settings of it. It's very time consuming. I'll announce more about it after I get things ironed out.
