Hi folks!

Which hardware is needed to play this game with all effects on?

My hardware, when I turn all effects on, I get 75 ~ 125 fps when I'm "playing alone" adding like 5 bots, I get only 7~40 fps.

I have a Sempron 3000+ 64 Bits (Socket 754), 1 GB DDR400Mhz, GeForce 6600GT 128MB. Running under Mandriva Linux 2006 (32 bits) and latest NVIDIA drivers.

that FPS values are OK with my hard. specs, or I should get something better?

thanks!!!

There are many more effects to be activated in the config.cfg (not in the menue). I don't think there's hardware available who could handle all possible effects at a decent framerate.

Sempron CPUs are not the gamer's best choice usually. It's an entry level Processor, mainly designed for internet surfing and office use.

The 6600GT features best cost/performance relation, but surely You know that there are much stronger VGAs.

Your fps problem sounds like an issue discussed in the Support/Bugs Topic of this forum. As I already said, Sempron CPUs are fast but nonetheless quite weak, what could be a reason for the performance breakdown.

Not exactly that....The sempron 64 with 754 sockts was the best ever sempron produced. as you can see in this test it got even more FPS than the Pentium 4 3.06 in DOOM3.

And the best: Has a REALLY HIGH potential for oveclocks (it runs in stock with 1.8 ghz, and you can easily oveclock it, totally stable to something like 2.6ghz) and the speeds increases so it beats the Atlhon 64 3000+ that uses the socket 754 (but not the 939 one)

Anyway I'm not (yet) using oveclock, so my speed looks like those one in the tests at toms hardware, and I'm not here to discuss about hardware (a hardware forum should be better :P )

Yes I know that....

Yes... it really looks like that bug! :)

Sempron 2600s overclocked to 2ghz are actually very decent, sometimes even faster than a real athlon64 3200.

l2 128kb cache, so what? Big deal. Stuff is still fast as ever.

Yeah sure, if You overclock a Pentium 200MMX up to 2GHz it runs faster than any current rig. It's the BX Chipset that's the fastest ever built. Serious!
You just have to build a deep freezer tightly round yer rig 8)

Actually a fine chipset, the right drivers, a fresh OS and carefully chosen components are the best way to a decent running system.

I'll rephrase that:
A fine chipset, fresh drivers, the right OS, and carefully chosen components :D

the spice expand conciousness!
the spice is vital to space travel!

But the 440BX chipset wasn't on the P200MMX. That would be either the 430FX, VX, HX or TX. The latter having the 512Kb cache.

The 440BX was for the 100MHz FSB Pentium II's and III's, that's Deschutes and Katmai. It replaced the 440LX, which was the first to support AGP and there was the 440EX below it for the early Celerons, although it was really for the Mendocinos, the second generation Celeron which wasn't total rubbish.

Nonsense.

The IPC (Instructions per cycle) count of e.g. an Athlon is higher than that of the Pentium.
