The screenshot is obvioulsy from the video :D

Edit:

Well the certainly took the time to investigate roperly at least. Thats good. Mentioning the rune match spesifically is cool :)

All in all I tink it was pretty balanced.. the usual "based on quake 1 should run faster" is getting standard, and in a balanced report as this I can live with it :) Also they have some issues we have learned lately that the mac has some times.. RT shadows and stuff, but that is being worked on, right?

Edit2:
Actuallty it is so well investigated that I wonder if anyone we know wrote it :D:D

1. I find it funny to hear Mac fans praising free software because it's free.
2. Silly Maccies and their eyecandy obsession.
3. They shouldv'e mentioned detonating rockets in midair.
4. Like to see they actually took the time investigating it, unlike some past reviews that just said screw it, it's 10 years old.

Yeah I wish he would have gone more into the weapons. I don't think they are just the typical DM weapons, they are designed to fill every possible need and situation. I also don't understand what weapon he means with 'missile launcher', the rocket or the hagar?
But he made a lot of good points on the sound and the immersion of the game.

While the gameplay's graphics are nice, the interface leaves a bit to be desired. There are no Mac-like elements, and even simple UI commands, such as Command-Q, are not implemented (instead F10 quits the game).

Man, shame on you developers (rofl)

far better than the last one i read, which was also from the forums. indeed he should have mentioned midair rocket explosions. but more balanced then previous ones.

nd while it doesn't have the detail of the latest games, it certainly looks and feels more advanced (and of course requires a more powerful computer) than a shooter from ten years ago. It's probably more at the level of Quake 2 with some of the more advanced lighting and effects features of today's games

That just proves that its another person who has no real idea what effects actually mean.

That MacOS interface thing is even worse...

Well, I think that review is sorta fair. It's not bashing us to death - and it doesn't praise us to heaven just because we're "free". The graphic defects are actually Mac driver problems... but how could a normal user recognize this?

Edit: I'm gonna email the reviewer and make him aware he's on our radar ;)

Hehe.

On Windows people complain when normal shortcuts work in game (like the Windows key)... you just can't do it right for everyone.

But Nexuiz DOES do it right on Linux - in windowed mode, window manager keys work when you pull down the console. Would be good if that worked in fullscreen mode too... but, again, only while the console is pulled down.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

I guess it's the same on MacOS, but the reviewer probably doesn't know about the console :)
