Why only then? That's annoying. It should be the users' jobs to make Nexuiz and their window manager's keys work together.

Ok, then how to make Windows ignore the Windows key?

Yes, THAT is the original fault of games doing that.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

You don't get it.
1. Mac is proprietary.
2. If they were frugal they wouldn't have macs.

Their problem when they use such a bad WM.

A-thing... just stay like you are, putting people into boxes with labels, and thinking that what you say is THE truth, that your solutions are the only solutions, without any tolerance for the other's choices.
Sentences like "if they were frugal they wouldn't have macs" or "Their problem when they use such a bad WM" are really stupid imho... Coz you judge people without knowing anything about their motivations and situation.

Some people are "forced" to use that crappy OS with the crappy WM. No, I don't like it either. But first of all, to use a "real" OS, you need to buy "real" (that is, supported by that OS) hardware. That might still be possible, but isn't easy in the case of notebooks. If you reject proprietary software, you for example cannot play ANY games on Linux apart from those so old that they run well on Radeon 9200. Then you also need all your software there... and of course don't forget all those people who need experience with that crappy OS for their job.

You had a chance of a right answer, but yours certainly is NOT right. The right answer would have been "PC to PS/2 adaptor and old Cherry keyboard". These old Cherry keyboards DO rule ;)

yes, agree..

i really like Nexuiz for the feel of good old Quake(3).

still i think for a 'game based on quake 1 engine' it should run faster.
YES, it really has some perfomance drawbacks.
i mean, i 'only' got some athlon 1.66mhz with an ati 2900, but for such sort of games it SHOULD run MUCH faster.

i can only compare to Quake 3 Arena, or Unreal Tournament, - which for me play in the same range.

(i come from commodore 64 scene and i know what 'optimized code' must feel like)

anyway, besides perfomance issues this is a great game.
the ideas with the regenerating health, the Laser Jumps (yeah baby, yeah!) and the weapons are fine.

still, this is a great great game;
i hope there come more players and some perfomance fixes.

Please please please with sugar on top,
please make the perfomance much better.
tweak your code, give us more ingame tweaks; -
at least make it run fast on our not-that-high-end-computers.
please.

1. Macs are expensive.
2. I meant it shouldn't be the Nexuiz developers' problem to get around that Windows key thing.

About their job, they probably shouldn't be playing Nexuiz at work anyway.

@poster above - turn off all effects except put particles on 1 -- that should make it run nice :)

I think that all people believe that this engine is some slightly modified Quake1 engine which should run @ 100 FPS on ATI Rage 128 with 8 MB RAM (and a P2 300 Mhz) when all new features are disabled, but this isn't the case. The DarkPlaces engine can't be compared to the Quake1 Engine anymore. It's altered so heavily that comparing it to the quake1 engine could be equivalent to comparing DOS to Windows 98 SE, as Win98SE is based on Dos but needs much more resources, however, it is much more powerful (and YYYEEES, it's crappy and bad and all that shit, so please don't cry again @ Linux users). DarkPlaces is also much more powerful. A big reason why the game isn't running too good is also the fact that the content is NOT optimized (the content creators aren't professionals as in ID Soft and EPIC) which means that in general you just see twice as much polygons as there should be. It is not always the engine's fault that the game doesn't run too fast, that's what I wanted to say
