This game is really good. The fact that its cross platform is insanity which makes it that much better, as well as x64 native. Keep up the good work.
Create an MMORPG game with a Fighting system similar to Devil may cry 4 and invintory system similar to Everquest or other traditional MMO's.
Have characters start out weak but as you level and gain agility and strength the characters could visually show it.
Although instead of executing special attacks with a series of buttons as in Devil may cry, you should make it so that the special attacks only require one button that can be switched to any key. As in in stead of (X+Y+Up+Down) it would be just X or just Y or any other key.
An example would be I am level 1 and have charge attack. With the controls listed below.
So if I were to use the Playstation control for instance I would setup my controls as such
R2 = Block -25% damage + Damage Resistance of the armor you are wearing
R1 = Parry/Dodge/Evade/Riposte - While Holding R1 if character is under attack R1 will roll dice for all available Evasive and counter skills using whatever is in either hand at the time. Cannot Attack while holding. Queued potion will be drank on successful dodge/evade success.
Left Joystick/Pressed Down - Forward/Backward/Strafe Left/Strafe Right/ Pressed Down - Crouch
Right Joy -Look
Direction Pad Left/Right/Up/Down - Inventory/Map/Mount Vech/Spells and Abilities with key bind menu with a picture of the Playstation controller and a list of skills and i drag and drop the skills onto the button of my choice.
L2 = Sprint/Run
L1 = Cast Spell - To cast a spell the Caster would press this button first and the character would would instantly stop in place and go into deep thought( stop and shut his eyes and prepare spell) then you would hit whatever key you bound a spell to
Triangle/Square/Circle/X - Bindable attack key/bindableattack key/bindable attack key/Melee which uses whatever form of melee you have learned.
Okay so the character is a Lvl 1 Shadowknight which is a multiclass Necro + Warrior.
Can wear plate but has no Hp since hes part necro.
So say this Lvl 1 is wearing leather which is 2% damage melee resistance but no resist to magic or anything else
He has leather Chest and pants with a long sword that is 5damage Non magic so it cannot hurt magic creatures.
His Melee skill is Death Knight which has low chance to dodge but higher dmage because of it veracity.
Melee attacks and their style just means that Hitting x will always swing the weapons in you hands, and the style behind it will determine the animation of the characters swing.
So a level 99 Monk would be wearing fist weapons his attack animations would be able to allow him to perform attack every .02 seconds that do massive damage while still allowing him to keep at a 90% dodge rating because having no weapons allows for more freedom of movement which would look like sweet ass fluid kung foo animation wear as a non fighter like a wizard, his melee style would be gray old man and all it would do is shake his stick or wand at the creature which obviously would not hurt the creature very much so it would be useless since they do not know how to use a melee weapon.
Some styles cannot use certain weapons. I.E. Monk cannot use Kenpo style unarmed combat with polestaff or swords. Shadowknight cannot use unarmed with Death Knight Style.
Styles can be upgraded as you level from you corresponding class teacher.
Hitting the X button uses Melee only which based on the current melee style selected will exeute said attack using said style and said attacks will chain itself together fluidly if uninterrupted up to 200+ attacks performed in an 8second chained attack at maximum level.
So said Shadowknight attacks Goblin.
Using the joystick and L2 to quickly run to the target, attacking with X,
said character Slashes down at the goblin on the screen, hitting x again, the character slashes back upward in a diagonal arch and hitting x a thrid time sends the blade from right to left. Each attack would register a hit with where ever the blade hit the creature and the damage would be calculated which includes any armor variables the attacke is wearing.
Since this character has Square bound as Bash , it bashes the goblin for 9 dmg and stuns it for 2 seconds allowing the person to turn the character in a direction to allow the melee attack to hit the head and it cuts the head off.
All body parts would have a certain amount of damage that it would be able to take without it failing and depending on your class it may or may not matter if you lose a leg or arm.
Cleric Classes heal all wound and Arms and legs and missing body pieces and REZ.
If someone made the game above and put in player housing and made it linux native x64 with open Gl 3.0 I would explode.
