Hello.

Hello. I've been a long time player of Nexuiz, though not exceptionally good, and have lurked for a few months. I'd like to contribute somehow... I am learning blender: any simple 3d projects I could help with? I hope this is the right forum subsection to post this in, and thanks in advance.

Welcome, I dont have anything for projects to recommend though. I think the main thing at the moment is player models, but thats not really simple as such...
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

you could try weapons, turrets, or alternative flag concepts. There was a thread with flag designs in the Editing section.

Hi Corvus, welcome to the forums. Gland you head you want to contribute =)
Some things that come to mind are:
Ammo pick up models - These don't look too good atm IMO, and should not be that complicated to model.
Map objects - Nexuiz includes little of this, simple things like lamps, tech items and so on helps mappers make their maps look good.
Debris - Dirt chunks, bricks, twisted metal chunks to throw around when weapons impact things. current totally missing.

Hmm.. flags are already being worked on , and weapons and turrets got models (unless we are talking abt some new unit).
HOF:
<Diablo> the nex is a "game modification"
<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
<Samua>]Idea: Fix it? :D
<Samua>Lies, that only applies to other people.

You may want to use my bugfixed SMD/ZYM exporter.

http://emptyset.endoftheinternet.org/~r ... _export.py

Or rather, it is the only way to get zym written from blender that actually works.

Tested it just with 2.48a, BTW. But read the text at the beginning of the script, and put zmodel in PATH if you can.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

The ammo idea sounds good... i might try that as it is simple and doesn't need to be animated, I think. Thanks for the ideas.

@divVerent: thanks in advance, that sounds useful.
