Hello, I have made an attempt at a high-motion HD Youtube video of Nexuiz at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqlc2W5Zr8U
This turns out to be a awkward process.
Youtube recommends uploading in 1280x720, so I recorded 1:25 clip in that, and the raw AVI was about 4 GB.
I'm not expert at video encoding, so the next part was difficult but I made the raw file into 426 MB using x264 and faac.
this probably could be less for a 1 min file but I don't know, the resolution and motion are high; it is hard!
Youtube's encoder mangled the 426 MB 1:25 clip into a 1:55 clip at youtube's HD bitrate whatever that is.
It slow-mo'd many of the scenes (making 30 extra seconds!) so I had to put music over the out-of-sync sound effects.
Considering the high motion of the video though, Youtube did a decent job of retaining quality at the bitrate.
I rate the experiment a success for the first trial; probably I can get audio synced next time.
ps sorry if this is in wrong section
