It's script, not the video.

I meant something like that, as Fisume said, the basics of bunnyhopping could be taught, some cool ideas about weapons, rocketjumps etc. I know it saves more space on the HDD to scipt it, but i wonder if its possible to make something like that, as in Warsow, if yes, then its true that its better with script.

Also, it can be a demo. That's not interactive, but also saves space compared to a video.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Personally I don't really think that a static background would be a really good choice for start, especially if it is made on Blastedlands, because if i remember that map well its bright, and open like hell, the perfect opposite of the maps that are contained within the downloaded game, so it doesnt reflect the content well enough. Personally I would stick to a dark sci-fi-like dynamic start, thats closer to the atmosphere of Nexuiz than Blastedlands at least in my opinion :) Still waiting for conception ideas for the starting of course, what I linked is just my idea, but if someone is creative enough, please share something cool, if its not way too complicated its possible i can set together with After Effects.
I should have elaborated. I meant to suggest either a still or slightly-moving clip of a dramatic in-game horizon to add a bit of a sense of grandeur to the promo video. The text 'Nexuiz' and any other additional text could be displayed in the top centre of this opening screen, rather than imposed on a plain black background. This would also serve the purpose of an eye-catcher.

After the shot is held long enough for the text to be read--and maybe a second or so longer--the screen could fade into the main frag video for almost the same effect as starting a story in medias res. From then on, the complexity of the shots and the intensity of the music can be allowed to peak before fading into a black screen with download details.

The last screen enables the video to be posted elsewhere without a text element and closes the video; this isn't really an 'ending', more of a denouement.

Okay, enough literature talk for me. :3

We have about 2 weeks to get a video together.

It's my belief that cortez will be recording TIMESTAMPED or CUT demos. kojn has said he would like to edit.

I'm not sure where we stand on:

1) the shipping of the harddrive or another method of getting the videos to kojn
2) a backup editor (someone to create a video with content if kojn falls through)

We need more content:

1) Showing off menu features
2) Showing off team features
3) Showing off new weapons

preferred timestamped demos

to divVerent:
could you provide a link with unedited demos because the edited demos give me unredcordable 5fps

i have made a test clip with some of greens demos
http://files.filefront.com/Clip+greenmp ... einfo.html

hopefully the quality is useable

every demo is welcome as long you give me timestamps what should record

@cortez: I assume that you want us to judge the quality in terms of which config settings you used for recording, and not the one of the clip itself (by which I basically mean the compression, because the compression would need a higher bitrate for the final video to avoid the ugly blocks).

I guess the graphical settings itself are fine. I have a few suggestions for improvement though:
- Maybe use a widescreen format (by using a 16:9 ratio resolution when recording, as 4:3 clips "appear" very oldschool/unmodern from the nowadays perspective of FPS movies)
- Exclude chat, and the chat beep should be removed as well :D - no1 cares to see the players spam their smileys ;)
- I suggest that you use another frag message font rather than the stone-old "console" font. Also the frag message could be a bit bigger.

About the font thing:
With new SVN demos, it will be easy, as the frag message centerprint will already use the new font, and the font size is adjustable by a cvar. However, with old demos, you can use the trick I used:
- Get vera-sans-big.tga and vera-sans-big.width from data/gfx from svn and copy it to a new place in the data dir of the Nexuiz you use for recording ("new place" could mean: let the filenames stay and just use another (sub-)folder, or rename both files).
- enter this into console: loadfont centerprint <path-to-your-new-tga> (the path starts relative to your data dir, omit the .tga ending - also note that this setting is not saved, you might wanna put it into your autoexec.cfg)
- try out if you like the size of the frag messages. If you don't, open the .width file and add a new line like:
scale 2.0
to the first line, to double the size. You can use any values here, just experiment with it.

Why 5 fps? That must be a problem on your side. The "cutting" however works by setting slowmo so it runs very fast, that may cause your 5 fps. It then slows down near the cue point, and only THEN sets cl_capturevideo 1. After that, the fps should be normal.

I repeat, you do NOT -capturedemo these demos, or set cl_capturevideo 1 when playing it back. You just PLAY these demos back, and they'll enable capturing at the right point automatically.

Anyway, you can remove the cut marks using "demotc":

perl demotc.pl uncut infile.dem outfile.dem

but there is no way to show their times without editing the demotc.pl script.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.
