Great to see 2.5 is on the horizon! I have been playing the latest SVN build, and I have to say, it is fantastic! The new shotgun model and sound are infinitely better than what we had before.

Some things I'd like to see

-Instead of pressing Jump to start a match or respawn, I feel it would be a lot more streamlined if you press Fire instead, or at least have the ability to do so.

-I would love to see a way to disable showing you the scoreboard when you die in DM, because I hate knowing my rank. It makes me anxious. In addition, I'd like a way to disable the new scoring display on the bottom left of the new HUD.

-A bug, when you go to disable auto weapon switching in the middle of a game, the setting won't apply until you hit the apply now button on your player settings.

-The water. There is no getting around the fact that it is fugly in Nexuiz. This can be easily evaded by the use of realtime reflections, such as are in the map Ruiner. But, even on my GTX280, they have a SEVERE performance hit, even when you set the reflection quality to the lowest setting, my FPS will dip into the 20s and 30s. An alternative to realtime reflections would be cubemaps, such as are used in Unreal Engine 2. Also Half Life 2 seems to do realtime reflections without much performance hit.

-It would be cool for there to be special effects like motion blur, soft shadows, heat and particle distortion, etc...

-A big one. There should be a way to cap the framerate. It fluctuates widely and can be a hindrance.

-Please don't nerf the Crylink, it's my favorite weapon :(

-In fast paced games, it can be tough to tell what weapon you just picked up. It would be great if when you pick up a weapon you don't already have, the weapon name could be briefly displayed in the middle of the screen, and not on the death log where it is instantly pushed away by death messages.

But where does spectating go then?

cl_deathscoreboard 0 for the first part...
The second part is unfortunately not possible, other than by setting vid_conwidth and vid_conheight to smaller values so it no longer fits (639 and 479 should work).

That's not a bug, many settings work like that. It is simply because it has to be sent to the server.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Hmm, maybe they could be swapped?

Also I forgot to mention another bug I noticed (although this was playing on a 2.4.2 server), in dieselpower and a few other maps, lifts will fail to come back down properly if there is a dead body or gibs underneath them.

cl_maxfps to your service.
(a k a macrobat)
And yes, Watchmen is the best graphic novel ever. Black Hole is quite nice too.

It's rather likely the graphics are indeed to blame. Did you install a recent Intel graphics driver? Is the system otherwise stable? A decent computer will run weeks without even one single total crash.

Any Nvidia or ATI graphics card (even the really cheap ones) will generally work much much better than Intel integrated graphics. So if Nexuiz isn't the only game you're interested in it may be a good idea to just put a "real" graphics card into your box if possible (impossible with notebooks, unfortunately).

Intel integrated in linux is miles ahead against nvidia and of course ati/amd in terms of features and usability.

Only if you just consider the open source drivers.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

No, you can even take closed nvidia in comparison.

Currently intel: dri2 (allows composite managers manage opengl apps and should be faster than dri anyway), gem (uses new gpu memory management - Graphics Execution Manager), kms (Kernel Mode Setting - finally someone from kernel devs got a clever idea to get native resolution while booting, instead of getting bloated with unknown (libNoDescription, protofoo-1987compat) things X doing this (thing which could already be done 10 years ago)), 3d intel drivers can be/are built for new gallium architecture (in Mesa development version), uses UXA for even faster Xrender (I suppose it's 2d only) acceleration.

Too bad that there is no real documentation (as always in linux) instead of reading obscure mailing lists or guessing from xorg acronyms what this/that should do or if it would work better.
