What you like about nexuiz 2.0 (post here)

One of my biggest let downs is the lack of official CTF maps. I wouldn't mind even if just some of the old DM maps were reworked slightly for CTF, I just wanna play it!

Other than that, the game's wonderful. Whatever voodoo they did for antilag is working wonders. I can play on a ~200 ping server (which, sadly, living in the states, are the only servers that get activity) and not feel the lag real bad. Also, spec mode being smooth is a big plus - no jerking around anymore. The menu and loading screen are really solid, after looking kind of. . . not very good in 1.5. They both fit the style of the game AND look really really good in the process, so I'd say they're keepers. Graphics are beautiful, bots are a lot better AND do less CPU damage, the new maps are really well-done. Nex 2.0 is definitely something that I'd put up to battle a commercially released game. . . well, maybe I'd hold off until it got some more CTF maps! But oh well. Great job, guys

Some of you guys missed the point of this thread , especially kozak6 over there. PPL plz post here what you like about nexuiz 2.0 what do you like.

I dont care what you hate, everyone wont like something. But after all the hard work the guys put into this game i think they want to hear how we like the game. Constructive criticism can go elsewhere.

If there nothing you like in the game , plz dont post here. If you like something in the game , this is where to post.

BTW i really love the game overall. There alot of fixes etc and it runs really really well now.

I like:
Changeable crosshair color (it doesn't matter what skin you have)
You can disable gibs
Demos menu
Voteable brightskins
New physics
New maps
New gamemode (arena) and mutators (nixnex and cloak (well, I havn't tested those yet))
I like the efforts made in writting Docs
And say escapes! say %l - for example - tells your location in the map to the other players

Comments on the response:
I must say that most negative response I have read this far has nothing todo with the Nexuiz 2.0 version.
I have read many complains about the shotgun, Rocket Launcher and Nex. But those guns is untouched from 1.5 (maybe even 1.2.1)!
Someone writes that all weapon is over powered, they are not.
And the Nex is not made to hit easier in 2.0 (and not in 1.5 either except for the fix of aimbug). It must be an effect of better fps and better netcode that you can hit more and do more damage (and maybe the server use g_antilag 1).

Yeah i also do not get those remarks about the guns, most of them have not changed and the two that have are obvious. I think i like about the same things as morfar plus the cool new graphics. It will be really interesting to see how the maps 'change' with the new physics and how players adapt to it.
Kozak: have you changed you hardware latly or do you still have the same?

Well, I have 512 more ram, which brings it up to just under a gig.

That's it. Of course, I did have my pc in for repairs, and I have no idea what they really did. The processor speed is misreported, for example. I don't know if it is supposed to do that, or if they screwed me over and are laughing at me right now, or what.

I did try 1.5 with it, though, and it still didn't run well.

1.6 runs better, but my framerate is extremely erratic. My framerate varies between 20-200 all on the same map, and sometimes it feels like it drops lower than it reports.

I like the fact that 2.0 runs far better on weaker PCs. On my Girfriend's rig framerates quite constantly 40 to 50fps where it ran 20 to 25fps with the same settings in 1.5

I like the new demo menue! Cool!

And I love the electro's secondary fire

the spectating.. i looove the spectating

and the server is awesome.. my ladder server uses 8% mem (of 1G) thats the same as before.. but with 2 player is usts 0.0% (!!!!) CPU.

Nexuiz 2.0 has a few nice things:

Yellow team works again !!!!
Dedicated server exe is back
New map/s (that i havent tired out yet)


Bad things:

When picking up Quad it lags like a cow , frame rate drops 40 fps when picking quad up , once it runs out , frame rate picks up

Grapple hook is utter crap now , it should not be a damm swinging thing
Please fix that asap !

I haven't played Nexuiz since the 1.0 days (at least not regular) and downloaded the 2.0 now. The improvements are awesome!
I LOVE minstagib (maybe just because I'm good at it)! Played it at least an hour per day.

-Some of the new maps are just incredible. I can't wait to play some 1on1 on them.
-The game runs much faster.
-Map-loading is faster.
-Spectating!
-Proper dueling (like fullbrights, votable stuff)

Is there a feature like server-side demo recording? Or automatic client-side demo recording?

I registered for the ladder too, you are welcome to challenge me
