Skipping levels in campaign?

Postby CheapyPipe » Mon Apr 20, 2009 7:01 pm

Hey all, I've been playing Nexuiz for a while now off and on (started about 3 years ago, just got back in to it after 2.5 :) ). I have a few questions though.

Is there any way to skip a level in the campaign? I'm at the Race level currently and it's just not fun for me, and I can't seem to beat it. Plus I'd never play a Race map anyways, so I don't think I'd miss much if I was able to skip it.

Also, ISTR a place where you could set up matches against just bots, is this still possible? I see the "Instant Action" button for Singleplayer, but I kinda like to be able to control what I play on and other various options. Should I just make a multiplayer game, and fill it with bots?

Thanks a bunch :)

In the game directory with the config, you'll find a file campaign.cfg. Edit it, and increase the level number it contains.

But for beating this map, here's the trick: walk backwards after spawning. Behind the finish line, you'll find a mortar. Take it, and mortar jump off the walls to get fast enough.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Whoo. Figured out the skipping levels thing. Just had to change a file. (Figured it out before reading your post divVerent, but thanks).

I tried a few things with that level. Mostly just jumping across the huge chasms with the mortar. I'm not good enough with the trick jumps, yet.

Another hint may be watching how a pro does it:

A 0:19.8 by Red Dragon. You just have to beat 0:33.3 :P
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

I'm having the same problem and could use some more help. I can't find the config or campaign.cfg files anywhere on my Mac, and using the mortar or laser to jump higher doesn't get me any faster in the forward direction. The demo video shows jumps I can't recreate: firing in the same direction as I'm running only slows me down! Help!

Thanks,

another way to skip levels is typing on the console: g_campaignNexuiz25_index 999, but then your state of the campaign will not be written any more.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Thanks. Is there a console command for reversing that change?

Yes, replace the 999 by the level number you were at
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.
