HP T5720 thin client runs dedicated server perfect!

For those who wanted to keep a server up and running 24/7. The HP T5720 thin client works perfect and uses only 27 watts. I even tested it with 25 bots, however that was a little extreme, but was done for testing purposes. Currently setup to do death match with five level 2 bots and a total of 16 players.

This client specs are : AMD Geode 1Ghz, running windows XP (Changed from embedded). Stock comes with 512MB flash SSD, and 256MB of RAM. Its now 8Gig SSD, and 1gig of RAM.

Want to try it out? Just look for "Joeteck" and the first 11 players can try it out.

Please let me know if there is any lag, as I will lower the amount of players. But I had 2 real players and 25 bots and it was fun, but ridiculous.

doubtful... This T5720 is an AMD 1Ghz CPU...those are 433Mhz.... and can either do 128 or 256MB of ram.... not enough to run windows, let alone run and be a server for a game... lol

Why would you want to run Windows for a server? If you want to cut things down completely, make it a Linux server with absolutely nothing other than the prerequisites for a Nexuiz server. LFS claim to be able to do a webserver in 5Mb of diskspace so I wonder what you could do a Nexuiz server in?

Other than a laptop I don't have any especially low powered systems available but maybe the Via C3-2 laptop would work as a server better than it does as a client (-2spf).

because my device was designed to run windows...Its a thin client with embedded XP . I just installed XP on it. beside linux is not for everyone and I wanted something a little bit more user friendly, for myself. Plus I use it for my Magic jack, and that will not run on linux.
