They give variety, challenge and a learning curve to players. In case it turns out it's too hard to beat, simply don't include it in the campaign.

Well, this is decided now, there simply is a "allow frustrating maps" checkbox, and cyberparcour is disabled by default unless you check this - easy to find - box.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

divVerent wrote:I doubt it is a turn-off to new players as it is a quite popular CTF map - although it was never meant to be popular.

I meant it as a JOKE. Dig out the original post to find that out. That people actually liked to play it still makes me wonder. So what, it IS popular, and it IS liked by large amounts of players, so why not save them the download.

Hmm... vaguely reminds me of something...

divVerent wrote:However, I have no problems with setting the map to "hidden", except that people will then wonder where all these weapons are the documentation talks about. What I really want is a REAL map with the weapons. But not even desertfactory contains any new ones, and touching any of the old maps to add the weapons is clearly a no-go.

Cough, cough... Treasure Island would already include the HLAC and the Seeker, replace the Nex with the Camping Rifle, et voila... Though I don't want to start another controversy :P

As everyone has eggandbacon, there's no need to provide a separate download, anyone can join a listen server testing modifications.

where you're clearly going against your original point

If you don't appreciate eggandbacon, it implies you don't use eggandbacon, that statement doesn't reference others, though.

Cyberparcour01 is defined in terms of the current Nexuiz physics, therefore it would be irrelevant if the physics changed.

Yes, someone could setup a cURL redirect to a predetermined file host, or they could simply use a default map.

By logic that is of any other means irrefutable evidence I conclude that the point of this post is to suffice nothing but a self-indulgent metaphorical simile to the way one views themselves. These words were written to fulfill my passion of writing vague and cryptic nonsense, however the bombastic language I use graciously implies that I know what I'm talking about when the inverse of the forum discerns the opposite.

I happen to like Treasure Island... so actually, why not? ;)

Me too, if it's gpl it should have been included already because of it's awesome quality IMO ;)

It's not included since it does not fit the Nexuiz theme. And I question the gameplay.
But it sure a very beautiful map.

That's what I meant with new controversy...
Since it is not a "typical" Nexuiz map, if Treasure Island doens't have full support from all project leaders, I prefer it to stay an independent project.
My next "real" map will be a better fit anyway, though I didn't start yet :P

Isn't there bunny track-like game mode in development called Nexrun? I think that would probably be a good mode for a few CTS maps.
I have left this website with the rest of the GPL Nexuiz community. You can find us at Xonotic.org
