"REAL" CTF is dying

Postby Alien » Thu Jul 09, 2009 8:14 am

Yesterday I tried to play Nexuiz after some break. What I found that there was no one playing real CTF and there were 20 players in several servers playing minsta CTF + hook on dusty. Wtf???

Maybe we should organize friendly CTF matches where ones who know how real CTF should look like could play.

These are happening all the time on the Nexuiz pickup channel, join #nexuiz.pickup@irc.quakenet.org! :)

They are 3v3, btw.

Pickup is not exposed enough and it's far easier to decide a date on the forum.

And I thought I'm playing CTF several times a week, without minsta, hook or jetpack.

I must be hallucinating then.

I agree that there are indeed quite a lot of such minsta/hook/jetpack servers, but a lot of people stick to "classic" CTF, and the good ol' servers have been there for a while, and are as good as before.
Meh.

This.

My only real problem is with the large volume of space/asymmetric maps that get voted in persistently. Normally its about 4 maps over and over and it gets really dull....
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

Agreed isn't exposed enough, but it's easier to join a pickup game then to arrange something on the forum.

Why don't you join a clan, and help the clan community? that way you would get matches (if you can also be bothered to go out of your way and schedule some) but it's the lack of regular players who don't do this that makes things so poor at the moment unfortunately.

I've noticed that HOCTF doesn't get played very often, but the German MinstaCTF and Nexican do. Maybe when we get on our first comment should be "Hey let's head over to ~servername~ and play some real CTF." Might get those servers a little more populated. :)
