yeah. i am still waiting to hear back from dib about his progress with it, and whether he needs me to do anything with it.
the way I see it, nexuiz is going to need a fairly large graphical overhaul soon. especially with the possible onset of a story campaign, nexuiz should have a full set of human, and possibly multiple sets of alien weapons. also, all of the player models will need a couple new animations, for a melee weapon I know, and possibly for bunny hopping (as has been suggested) and a couple other things like that. also, i think a few people are trying to bring back animated weapons, like the rotating cartridge on the mortar, and a few other weapons (this would make the shotgun infinitely more cool IMO).
this is of course going to be a lot of work. but we are making a game here, and that's not easy. it's amazing how far the developers have come with this, and I applaud your work, however there is still more work to be done. so we have to ask ourselves, would it be easier to do this piece by piece, and end up with something that works, maybe a little patchy just the same? or should we do it all at once, making everything work together perfectly before putting it back together again in a single beautiful work of art?
now, when I say all at once, i don't mean ALL of it. i mean first, work on getting all of the new weapons in, then once that is finished, start working on something else, and you could divide the work up, so you can have multiple weapons being put it at once, to make things go faster. I know I am perfectly willing to help, and I know there are others who would be also.
so don't give up yet. this can be done. and it will be awesome.
Why has a developer ever needed any reason other than "it looks bloody awesome?"
