MAPS WANTED - First Nexuiz Halloween Party!

Hello all!

Announcing the first Nexuiz Halloween Party!

Last April, some Nexiuz people celebrated April Fool's day by creating a bunch of prank maps that were themed with internet memes (All your base, rick rolled, pedobear, etc). I ran a CTF server for 24 hours that had those maps in the map cycle. Though that was only planned within a few days, it ended up being a handful of maps and it was a lot of fun.

This time, we are going to ask mappers to either retheme existing CTF maps or create new CTF maps that are in the Halloween theme. On the week of Halloween, I will cycle all of these maps on the House of CTF server. I will also try to line up a server in Europe (perhaps merlijn's server) and Australia (perhaps the Aussienexer's server) to host these maps on Halloween.

We have all of October to prepare for this, so I hope we can get a good number of quality maps to play. I think it will be a lot of fun. Retheming existing maps should be pretty successful, since the maps will be familiar to players. For retheming, I HIGHLY suggest picking maps that are known to have good gameplay. If you want to retheme an unpopular map, it probably won't get played. So if you DO want to pick a less popular map, then at least try to improve the map to make it more playable, if you can.

NOTE: If you have an idea for a map theme that you're not sure about, you might want to discuss the idea with other people first before pouring a lot of time into it.

Have discussion with other mappers in #nexuiz.editing on the Quakenet IRC network.

When you are done with a map send the map to either Dokujisan or Grasshopper.

Some halloween-related ideas...

Colors...
Purple
Blue
Black
Orange
Gray
Red
Dark Green
Or really any dark colors would work

Things...
Jack-o-lanterns
Ghouls/ghosts
Vampires
Cob-webs
Spiders
Skeletons
Vampire Bats
Zombies
Witches
Demons
Black Cats
Frankenstein's monster
Goblins
Mummies
Coffins
Slime
Blood
Corpses

Places...
Cemetary/Graveyard
Abandoned hospital
Dungeon
Creepy Castle
Haunted House
Swamp

Don't forget sounds!
You can put scary ambient sounds in the maps as well.

You can even go for humor and try to go with with Elvira, Michael Jackson's Thriller, The Munsters, Halloween (the movie), Dawn of the dead, Freddy Krueger, or something really off-the-wall like vampire bunnies. Feel free to be creative. There aren't a lot of rules here, just as long as it is somewhat Halloween-related. You could even make a map with popular halloween candy wrappers on it.

If anyone is able to make a halloween-themed player model, that would be fun. We could make that the default player model for the server.

.......................

If any mappers OR arists are planning on contributing, they should post what map/maps they are working on here, perhaps with some screen shots of their progress.

If anyone has any special requests for maps to be themed, or ideas/images/sounds/links for inspiration, please post those on this thread.

Here are a few things to look at fir inspiration and ideas

I want to focus mainly on CTF, but if there is enough interest, I would accept DM maps as well. I would put those on the House of Deathmatch server.

I had an idea about some health and armor mods if someone can make them in blender . it shouldnt take long at all and we could all use them in our maps .

health could be re-modeled as pumpkins

and armor shards could be those little candy corns

Master ? Do you call me Grasshopper because I am cunning and stealthy?
NO ! Because you are Ugree , Rike insect !

Perhaps we can get some pumpkin models to replace health, candy corn armor shards, etc. All would be a simple pack download and can enhance any maps, not just halloween themed ones.
