2.5.2 Vs. 2.5 AI on Soylent Space

Postby 133794m3r » Fri Nov 13, 2009 12:21 am

Now, i'm NO WHERE near amazing at FPSes i'm just playing through the campaign to hopefully become good enough to play online. But for some reason the AI in the 2.5.2 release that was on the site for an "all in one" package seems to have AI through the roof when compared to the 2.5 AI.

on the ubuntu .deb release which afaik is the 2.5 release. It allowed me to be challenged but i wasn't beaten into the ground. Each level got harder and harder. Not by any insane amounts just a little bit more challenging as time went on. But on this one it seems that the AI on this level is jus OMFG PWN YOUR FACE when compared to the previous levels. Maybe it's b/c i've got vsync on and keeping it at 59fps compared to the 300+ at times i normally get w/o it. I just know on ubuntu i got to the "a loving remake of a classic quake level" before i started really feeling the intensity. Here it seems the AI's literally somehow which i don't undrestand just killing me nonstop. I don't get how it's doing it on this release compared to the other one, but it just is. It's literally doing crazy maneuvers running up shooting me off the edge before i can see them.

That's one thing that i don't really care for in this game too, is that there's no "radar" like item just sounds. As i'm someone who just listens to some tv or some of my favorite music when playing muting the sounds seems to be really messing with me. As i've read else where that sounds' the only way to get a location of your enemies save running around the level.

I noticed that too , especially if they got all weapons they spam with fireballs.. eggandbacon is almost impossible to capture the flag there (with hook it works quite well - but if a new guy figures this out and learns to play with hook, probably he closed the game already) , this map needs to be replaced soon :(

Bots must have gotten really strong in the past months according to the quite relevant number of posts about their strength :D

Indeed, the little bastards are quite deadly sometimes now !
In the LMS campaign i got twice the "DONT CAMP" message! I was letting them kill themselves : D , running away from them . Because i was 90% of the time on fire when around them : ) . And especially on CTF as mirio said, the @#$! bastards made it really hard to capture ( i dont use hook). But really. And i mean it : D . I felt as if i was playing online against really strong opponents. But then again this is much much better : ) .

Well personally i'd like for the AI to get harder and harder as the single player campagin went by. How many levels is there in the single player campaign?
